Have faith, since it's a cyst and not full blown navicular, proper shoeing with egg bars and bute should really do the trick. The horse that I showed you guys a few posts back has navicular changes and he was fully functional when I had him and sound with the shoes. He'd get a little stiff now and again and do some head bobbing and act ouchy, but it never lasted long. I wouldn't worry too much.
I think asking your farrier if your son could come along with him to his rounds would be a great idea. There's nothing like hands on experience, and the worst the guy could say is "no"
Good morning everyone. I don't post much but I lurk a lot. Just so busy.
I see everybody's having the same concerns! I am also working on my grass, had 18 acres cleared of cedar and have 2 of my animals on a neighboring pasture to let the grass grow.
I don't have any problems loading my horses. I did at one time. We worked it out. Boy did we ever.
Also have fenced off part of my front lawn to keep the dog off, threw some rye grass seed, I know it is only a temporary fix but does it ever look pretty on these nice mornings.
And I too am addicted to coffee. Guess I should cut back but then I go to drinking Cokes, probably just as bad.
My gray mare running loose on 200 acres near me isn't shod and her feet are great. Hard, black, perfectly rounded. My Thoroughbred, however, would be coyote food by now.
Have a great morning everyone!
Sorry, couldn't figure out of to make a link out it. The cartoon is long the same lines as what you have seen on JibJab

What a concise post:), you addressed every topic well.
I wish I could learn to do that, probably everyone else does too:)

Take a look at what??? I can't see anything.

The link is not working for me. It may be that I am using a webTV.
Becky
that was funny but I like This Land is your Land better.
I just had Winnie shod, looks good. Maybe it's all she'll need.
Web TV sounds neat. How do you like it?
Is she still limping?

We've had it now 6-7 years. I like it alot. It's easier to use then a computer. You don't have to worry about virues, AND :) You get to sit in your recliner while surfing the net.
The only draw back is you can't load pictures from a camera. Once they are loaded I can post them with the webTV,there is just now way to load them, unless the newer models have improved, I don't know.
Becky
Wouldn't that be wonderful!
Back from my outing, no picnic this time : )
I was going to brush Misty, but theres a good breeze and I will end up with more than she does I imagine if I do it now!
We have someone coming to look at a tractor we are selling in a little while, be nice to sell it and get the money in the bank : ) Pay for horse feed for a day or two : )
Our chickens have a coop and run, and even though we clip their wings, they wander all over our 10 acres! Guess they "fertilise" as they go! LOL They also "clean" up all the horse manure.
Our grass is begining to grow again, we should be ok this year, but next year we need to seed.
I couldnt have a beautiful garden here with all my chickens about! Do your chickens stay in an enclosure Becky?

I didn't trot her around yet, she never did limp at the walk. She acts like she feels better, she's moving around her stall more. The vet wanted me to keep her stalled and quiet for 3 days after injecting the joint to block her yesterday.
I really would like to get her out and trot her around. It's killing me...
I have chickens but they are in an enclosure. I'm afraid my dogs would kill them otherwise.
