It's sad. The worst software paired with the best players, and the best software paired with the worst players.
There's one born every minute, after all.

They all wear sunglasses these days at poker tournaments. For obvious reasons. I'd like to see them banned
I second the request for a website recommendation. There are too many out there, and every one requires a download.
Most likely Sklansky. Sklansky practically coined the term.
I already recommended sites above. Read post .36
If you are looking for the absolutely easiest games, play at PartyPoker. The software is ugly but it still works fine and doesn't crash. The only downside to PartyPoker is that they don't spread limit games below .50/1 for hold em, so you'd want to have $300(300 big bets) to ensure that you don't go broke(assuming you're a winning player, a terrible player could go broke with 5000 big bets).
I would probably recommend PokerStars if you are just starting out, however, because they have limit games starting at only .02/.04(that's 2 cent/4 cent), and therefore you only need a bankroll of 12 dollars if you are a winning player. Then you can just work your way up the limits, although I recommend moving back to PartyPoker once you can beat the .25/.50 because the games are much looser at PartyPoker, and therefore better.
So basically, if you are still learning, play at PokerStars, at their micro-limit tables(.02/.04 and .05/.10). Then move to PartyPoker.
That's just ridiculous, dennisw- to say that sunglasses should be banned.
Sunglasses are overrated anyway. You never see the true professionals wearing them, like Chan and Brunson. They don't need them.
I never wear them when playing cash games, because I can control my emotions and my eyes.
And good players can pick up tells even with a player wearing sunglasses. They don't really help that much.
Oh, I don't think we will run out of fish. I just think that the number of new ones coming on sites and into casinos every day will rapidly decline once this poker craze busts.
Sklansky has great books available on poker, but also on gambling as well. Blackjack can be +EV if you can count cards, but casinos are aware of it and are using multiple switch decks.
Most definitely a lot of the poker pros and great amateurs think the same way you do. But a lot have started wearing sun glasses because they don't want to give the competition an edge.
No that's not true at all.
The top pros hardly ever wear sunglasses, even with the poker boom.
If they are true professionals then they don't NEED sunglasses because they can control their emotions.
Top amateurs is what I should have said? I'm a casual viewer of poker on TV. I don't play it.
Top amateurs can wear sunglasses if they want. If they think it helps because they can't control their emotions at the table then go for it.
I don't really see what we are arguing about. I feel that anyone who wants to wear sunglasses or a hat or even a halloween mask should be able to. Good players can still beat them.
I watch it on tv as well(I Tivo all the WPT, WSOP, and Poker Royale episodes), but I also play for a living, and have for the past 10 years.
I have supreme respect for someone who can make a living at poker. Are you aware of Henry Orenstein, Producer of the Poker Superstar Invitational? He spent his own money on advertisements for GW Bush last November. He was the voice in the advertisements.
You *must* check out this URL!

Yes I've heard of him. He is Jewish like I am. I remember reading an article about him voting for GWb because of Israel. That is one of the reasons I am a Republican as well.
Yup!
I dunno. I do think it will slow down soon, but the games will always be profitable for the good players, because when your opponents make mistakes, you make money.
Which Sklansky book were you reading? I own all of them.
Same here.... Jewish and politically conservative...
