I have my mother's fruitcake recipe but she always used bourbon to moisten it for weeks as it ripened.
To: Borax Queen; westmex; sweetliberty
Not sure as fruitcake laced with Stoli and Sambuka would be worth making.
But.. depends upon what the fruitcake itself is.

Turns out the Nordstrom is Saks Fifth Avenue - you'll have to shop with the unwashed.

Oh, you're kidding! I missed the high-brow section of Austin four years ago :) Saks was always one of the upscale stores in SF and I think NY too. I'm not sure what ranks the highest now exclusivity-wise: Saks or Neiman-Marcus? Nordstrom must be right up there...

You are only just now discovering the crockpot? And I thought you yankees were supposed to be so much ahead of the curve on technological innovations.
Let us know how it works out.
Hint: it doesn't do cakes.

"When I heard about the hundreds of thousands of people, I said "no, thank you!"." Be glad you missed it! Yes, it IS a big one. Our friends we were visiting in Mesa actually enjoy going to crowded events and we were their guests and it would have been rude to decline. The kids enjoyed the rides and such early in the evening, but long about 9:30 or 10, the drunks starting puuring in and things got ugly, at least from my perspective. Even our more crowd oriented friends had had enough and were anxious to get out of there. Not to mention, we were all concerned for the kids' safety.

"You should only follow this link if you don't mind female nudity." You will doubtless be responsible for the site crashing now, due to excessivie mashing of the link by FReeople men.

I will go to great lengths to avoid groups of more than ten or so.
To: restornu; grannie9
LOL! I can't wait to see more of Grannie's collages; those were awesome yesterday. My very favorite is still the Halloween one, but yesterday's parties came close.

Thank goodness we had good seats in the bleachers for the Fiesta Bowl, and even some empty rows in front of us. We were at the very beginning of the parade. I was able to stand/sit in the very back and have some breathing room so I didn't have to have an agoraphobic meltdown. :)
