I feel slighted if not gifted with a book, particularly from hubby or his sister!

My SIL and I have an interesting relationship and always seek out some obscure quirky book for each other.

I'm back. The place I went to is just down the road. It's sort of a restaurant/coffee house type place. It's pretty good. There weren't too many people, so it was easy to find a booth in the corner to read. :-)

And I feel a lot better now that I have food in my system.

So what quirky book did you get for your SIL this year? And what are you hoping she got you? :)

Welcome back to the party, LOL! So what'd you eat/read? I used to like to go to this coffeehouse with my friends and play Scrabble with them while eating chili and drinking tea.

I ate a sierra turkey sandwich and a bowl of broccoli cheddar soup. I'm reading "The King of Torts" by John Grisham.

I haven't played scrabble in a long time. The last board game I played was Trivial Pursuit - and that was a year ago. LOL! I did win though. :-)

Broccoli cheddar is awesome! :)

Haven't read Grisham yet. How is he?

My family used to play Trivial Pursuit with our neighbors every New Year's Eve :) We might play over Christmas but it depends if someone has the right board. I was good at the original version, but a couple years ago we tried a new version and no one knew any answers except my youngest brother :)

We used the Millenium Version.

John Grisham is pretty good. I sort of have a thing for lawyer books...and people give them to me for major holidays. LOL!

I don't remember which version we used. We also tried this version that wasn't actually Trivial Pursuit but a similar game you could put on the TV screen and click the answers.

So Grisham writes lawyer books?--I guess that'd be kinda like a literary Perry Mason :) Interesting concept. Hmmm--I wonder if there are any authors who write books where the heroes are accountants :) Does anyone else write lawyer books?

The Simpsons had a Grinch segment tonight where they sang a version of "You're a Mean One, Mr. Grinch" except Homer was in the Grinch's role :)

I haven't gotten that part of her Christmas present yet. For her birthday (Thanksgiving weekend) I gave a book (the title escapes me at the moment) about admired women as told by the next several generations of women in their families. What struck me about that book was there were no "famous" women in it - it was about real people.

Like her mother, my late MIL, my SIL has a knack for gifts that I can only attempt to come anywhere near.

My younger brother and I are like that, too :)

That sounds like a cool book you got her. Would make a good basis for someone researching genealogy or a historical novel, I bet. Let me know if you remember the title.

When I talk to her tomorrow or the next day I will ask her - she's still telling what a great book it is.

I'm going to have to think about calling it a night. usually hubby handles getting our daughter on the school bus in the morning, but I have a feeling he's going to be leaving long before the school bus shows tomorrow morning.

When I let the dogs in about 2 hours ago it was raining cats and dogs - when I let one of them out 15 minutes ago the ground was covered in snow. It's not sticking to the road, but if the temp drops as low as it is supposed to overnight, I don't think there is going to be school tomorrow.

I've had lots of fun chatting, but I'm so sorry Tiamat for having hijacked your thread - again congrats on selling the house!!!!

Hopefully tiamat will rejoin us before too long here!--starting to wonder where she went. . .Anyway, have a great night! There's a storm predicted here, too, but I hope it's not too bad, as some of my family has to travel over the next two days.

There are others who do, but I can't think of them off the top of my head. LOL!

I just finished doing a yogalates workout...I haven't done that in a while, so I'm going to be sore in the morning. LOL!
