Calico was an old mining town we just visited, population 8. During its boom days, the population was over 5,000, so there must have been at least one brothel there? Iceman said he'd run the cafe but he didn't really want me running the brothel. But at least my back wouldn't hurt.

Snakes have a lot of vertebrae to adjust........snake chiropracters must have full time work from one patient.

It was fine until I started a computer desk job :( When I was an active Rangerette or when I had my own business, I never had any back issues. Snake body not meant for sitting but someone has to support all the KITTIES. I exercise, stretch, see a chiro, massage therapist, blah blah blah, ack, but the pain still catches up. Snake chiros do make much money from me, lol.

"It was fine until I started a computer desk job"

If I have to lean over and type, I get bad muscle spasms in my back. I have this one part of my back between my neck and shoulder blade that can be agonizing, and if I have an attack with that, it can go for days up to a couple of weeks feeling like I have a knife in my back. I deal with it by typing leaning back in the chair with my feet up and my keyboard on my lap. In fact, if I have to put in several straight hours of computer work, it is the only way I can stand it. You should try it.

This was in the local paper today...a democrat who gets it. Who knew?

Do You Suffer From PEST?

The acronym stands for Post Election Selection Trauma, according to the AHA — American Health Association — that is.

I'd never have known such a disease exists had I not read a story from the Boca Raton (Fla) News reprinted by The Washington Times.

It made me laugh out loud, a rare occurrence in today's news reading. It seems Rush Limbaugh, according to a licensed clinician for the AHA, made light of symptoms suffered by Kerry supporters, and offered to personally treat her patients. "I don't get no respect" was the tenor of her complaint against a man I never listen to. I advise her to do likewise if she gets all that riled up about his broadcasts. The symptoms of PEST boil down to what I think of as being on the wrong side of an election, which for me usually happens every two or four years. My remedy for the sufferers: Pull up your socks, quit acting like a poor loser and get on with your life.

My record for being on the losing side began with Wendell Wilkie, continued through Gene McCarthy and Hubert Humphrey and others on the national scene.

As for losing in local elections, you wouldn't believe the score there, even splitting my ticket. As yet, I've not taken to the streets in protest, stormed Mountain Home City Hall or Baxter County Courthouse or sought comfort from the non-profit AHA. No doubt, it's an organization which has done good for patients who go in for that type of thing.

However, I'm reminded of a former North Arkansas Community College instructor who was married to a kindergarten teacher and was also familiar with the world of counseling. Both practitioners, he opined, begin after a while to sound just like the folks they work with. I found that funny. Those suffering from PEST probably wouldn't have.

I need help from yall football fans. giggle

I'm making my two year old grandson a football sweat shirt. I am doing the iron on thingees with his name in the back and numbers on the front, along with the Dallas Cowboys star logo on the sleeves.

Which brings me to my question...what number should I use?

I hate to brag, but my little grandson can pass complete at thirty feet with 90% accuracy, hike the ball, run with the ball stiff armed, growl when he is defense against his brother on the line and drop kick a football (1/2 sized.

I can't decide whether to make him offense or defense. Tom Landry used to say that when a rookie walked in and called him "sir", he was offense. If he spit tobacco on the floor, he was defense.

Rush has been telling the PESTy libs to "get over it, already!" Wise advice which they'll never take of course, LOL.

Gosh I've been watching the live coverage on local TV about this Chicago highrise fire all evening. When I stepped away from the tv for about 20 minutes it seemed like they might be getting a handle on it. Now it looks like it's jumped a floor and there are more flames again.

13 serious injuries, 12 are Chicago firefighters. Prayers lifted....

Oh, ny latest pet peeve is these d*mn recorded solicitations that leave their long spiel on your voice mail. Problenm with mine is I can't erase a call until the entire message is played. It really hacks me off!

Maybe I should clarify.

If you get a combined internet / long distance phone provider, you get a long distance number which can be reached as if it were e-mail. But it is voice-mail.

Then unscrupulous spammers concoct a voice mail message and broadcast it to every available internet long distance voice mail box they can find. You wind up listening to unwanted solicitations in order to find the real messages.

And you thought spam was bad...

It was grounds for me getting 2 things: 1. A caller ID box that can recognize certain numbers and play them a discouraging message, and 2. An answering machine without a tape so I can immediately delete unwanted stuff. When playing back -- it shows who called with the message -- delete can come really quick.

I may have to go to an answering machine. I have voice mail now, and it won't let me delete them until their 5 minute speech is finished, but then, my phone company is the absolute worst!

You won't be out much money, I went to Circuit City for mine, came as part of a SouthWest Bell telephone. It was under $50 on clearance.

G'night.
