Darn it.. I was going to make some dessert, and I just found some Pumpkin Pie mix in the closet. :( Too late now, as the oven's full. Had the whipped cream too.
And that's the truth.
Thanks for the AE link cutie. I just ordered some movies for my 15 year old Jessie. I wanted something, but didn't know what.. These fit the bill. ;)
Hmmmm.. I've been known to.. and that was before the computer..lol.
How Poor People Live
One day a father of a very wealthy family took his son on a trip to the country with the firm purpose of showing him how poor people lived. They spent a couple of days and nights on the farm, of what would be considered a very poor family.
On their return from their trip, the father asked his son, "How was the trip?"
"It was great, Dad."
"Did you see how poor people live?" asked the father.
The son answered: "I saw that we have one dog and they have four. We have a pool that reaches to the middle of our garden; they have a creek that has no end. We have imported lanterns in our garden; they have the stars at night. Our patio reaches to the front yard, they have the whole horizon. We have a small piece of land to live on; they have fields that go beyond their sight. We have servants to serve us, but they serve others. We buy our food, but they grow theirs. We have walls around our property to protect us; they have friends to protect them."
The father was SPEECHLESS.
Then his son added, "Thanks, Dad, for showing me how poor we are!"
Hey, you're welcome. I don't know if you've ever seen the series, but we loved them. We bought the whole set over time - some from Costco, and some from Amazon. They are great entertainment when you have family over, there's nothing on TV, and some many of the movies are so violent and just plain lousy. Even my mom likes them!
There are a lot of movies that I've seen on AE that I couldn't find there. I will have to do a more thorough check when I get the time.
Problem is...they are gifts, and I want them all. I will have to borrow them when I get home, lol
My daughter did send me Band of Brothers last year, and it was fantastic. I'll kill her if she paid that much tho.. :(
I couldn't find HH in one box set, but found them in separate sets made up of different groups of episodes. I found some at Amazon and the newest ones at Costco.com. Of course, the costco prices were the best.
I bought Band of Brothers for my husband as soon as it was released. I'm sure I paid full price for it. Oh well. He really likes the series.
Still saying prayers for Darla Mo . . . thank you for the up-date.
Excellent, Loddy. Thanks.
LOL!!!! . . . I love it.
That's pretty good. Dave Berry is a national treasure!
Cook a ham. They're easier to cook and much more Christmasy.
Dave's spot on correct, and hilarious.
After I learned that there was no Santa Claus, a few years ago, my gift requests from everyone were reduced to gin, cigs, or cash...useful things.
I can remember when I'd cook a ham, a turkey and a goose. I used to be much more ambitious. LOL!
Well, I don't care much about receiving gifts. My Christmas gift will be having my family here. Anything else is just garnish.
Roflmao on that one. He's great, and it's sooo true! Thanks for the laugh Lib.. I needed it.
I agree with you completely, but Mrs.L's family thinks that everyone has to give and receive gifts from everyone else - it's insane. A present orgy that goes on for over three hours...
