I remember my grandmother's chevy. Even when it was new, it smelled old and musty for some reason. And she did not smoke cigarettes, either. My grandmother was always fussing at folks who smoked, but she dipped her snuff without any guilt. LOL

The small records are 78's. I think. If you were buying The Carpenters, Saturday Night Fever and Abba with your baby sitting money, then compared to you, I'm older than dirt!! LOL!

Weren't those the Kodak Instamatics? I don't remember if I had one of my own, but I'm sure my mother got one of those.

I loved the candy cigarettes, and you could get them in different popular brands, too. There is a candy store on the riverfront in Savannah that still sells them, or did when I was last there.

45's? Okay, that makes me nostalgic. I had a really groovy holder for mine that I could take to the slumber parties.

I remember those stoppers for sprinkling clothes before ironing. My mom had one. I don't remember milk deliveries, because we lived a little ways out of town and had our own cows. As far as I can remember, we always had a refrigerator. We always had meat, because we had chickens, and cows, as I mentioned. My dad would butcher a steer periodically, and we had a deep freeze to keep the meat. He was also an avid fisherman, so we often had trout and crappies, sometimes bass.

I still have a boxful of 45's out in the garage. I doubt they're any good any more, they've been exposed to heat and cold.

"Do you remember the huge advance is photography when the flash was a cube that spun around with each picture taken?"

Yep; and those little buggers were expensive!

OK, so I'm old. Does this mean we can't be friends? :)

Oh, how fun it would be to find some of those candies. My mom taught us this poem - so we always liked finding Lucky Strike packs on the ground because we could hit our siblings or friends. "Lucky Strike, can't strike back, 'cuz I just stepped on a Lucky Strike pack."

By "hit", I mean friendly poke or jab.

I had a HUGE stack of 45's. The first one I bought with my own money was Monster Mash. The first album I bought with my own money was Meet the Beatles.

Gotta go shopping. I'm going to put a rump roast in the crock pot, and then continue with the garage cleaning project. I already have a pile of stuff to haul to good will, and then I need to call the disposal company and set up a time for a special pickup. They provide a special "clean up" day twice a year so we can get rid of additional crap without having to go to the dump.

No, I would be honored to call you my friend! I have always hung out with people older than me; even when I was 13 I was always with the 17 year olds at Lithuanian camp (and you know as a teenager that is a huge age difference).
And I'm rapidly creeping into the older person category myself what with my aching body parts and fragile bones :) Even though I only feel 26!

Pinging a few more of the "old folks."

Okay, so we span a pretty wide range of age, but this is fun anyway.
