"I am curious as to how foster parents are paid for caring for a child...by the day or month?" They are paid a monthly board rate, but if they have them for less than a month, the payment is prorated accordingly.

I know that there are many loving families that are foster parents because they are truly loving folks. But, I have known a few who do it strictly for the money, really, and will admit it, as if it were a part time job. Seems like they should be labeled boarders instead of foster parents.

Not too many of the foster parents I work with are doing it for the money. The home I just delivered these kids to is fabulous. He's a doctor. I don't know what she does, if anything, besides take care of the kids. These two made 10 for them, and the ones they already had there were obviously healthy, happy and well-adjusted, as far as I could see. I've heard nothing but good things about these people, although this was the first time I'd met them.
We have another couple where I had 2 of my boys before their grandparents were given custody of them. These are really terrific people. He's semi-retired. These people are not hurting for money either. Their attitude is that life has been good to them and they want to give something back. Unfortunately, they may be giving up foster parenting becausing they're adopting 5 of their kids, 3 of which are their own grandkids.
We have one older couple who only takes teenage boys, and they are wonderful with them, and a lady who only takes teenage girls. She is very good too.
Even the lady I'm having so much trouble with is a good lady. I like her. She just can't be depended on to stick it out when the going gets rough. She has literally sent back every kid that has ever been placed with her. She only has 2 left, and they're mine and I am looking for another placement for them because she wants them out. That will leave her with none. I think she's kept these 2 girls longer than any others and that has been not quite 2 months.

"Mine is working fine and I still won't let them use it " Probably best to keep it that way. Are your computers networked? If so, viruses can go from one to the other.

Thankfully??
*fingers crossed*
Reminds me of the video for Tori Amos' song "Cornflake Girl", she drives a pickup truck down the road with a merry band of wimmens, pick up some hitchiking 'hunk', and then dance around a huge iron kettle witch like while 'hunkboy' cuts up carrots into the water..
Fairly surreal.
