I _honestly_ believe that if someone sat down with G, they could in fact convince him that the pro-abortion stance is not the best one, and that he doesn't even have to go 'all the way' - if he just advocates and backs up "abortion control", he can bring many more people into the new 'big tent' of the Republicans.
I think I've created a new word. "Abortion control". It's like gun control, only it saves lives.

When he was running for the Senate in New York, the conservative party which normally does not endorse/support pro-abortion candidates said they would endorse him if he at least spoke out against partial birth abortion. Rudy refused to do even that, he said that should be a woman's right. This will be unacceptable to all the values voters who put Bush in office. Evangelicals will abandon the Republican party in droves if they nominate someone like that. If the Republican party wants to keep their base and survive they will be wise enough not to nominate him.
