If you lay a map of tornado alley over that map, it mimics the red zone right up the middle of the country. Bush voters are FEARLESS!

It looks like the Clintons were right about the "Vast Right-Wing Conspiracy". A few blue pustules on a an ocean of red.

That map is totally beautiful... As a Texan I will point out that our only blue areas are the Mexican Territories and the Austin enclave that we kinda consider the crazy old Aunt we keep locked up in her bedroom.

A good Chicago friend of mine, where handguns are completely banned and hunting rifles greatly restricted, has told me that the violent crime rate close to double that of Houston (the closest city to Chicago in size and demographics in the country.) Texas has much more sensible gun laws, so you figure the why out.

PS: Speaking of Chicago... If this map is correct! Then Chicago virtually rules Illinois where virtually the rest of the state is RED! Could that be correct?

I can't get over this! If this map is accurate... how was this election even close. HOW can a few urban areas dictate so much of our politics?

Perhaps not, at least they didn't win.

THIS IS WHY THE ELECTORAL COLLEGE IS SO IMPORTANT. IT GIVES THE RURAL STATES WEIGHT IN THE SELECTION OF THE PRESIDENT.

Looks like we gained some ground - LITERALLY!

2000 election
Square miles of counties won
Bush 2,432,603
Gore 577,029

2004 election
Square miles of counties won
Bush 2,510,000 million
Kerry 511,700

And those 2004 numbers don't include dozens of counties which have yet to file 100% of precints, nor ANY of Alaska.

Karl Rove, you're a genius.
