I thought we had lost until I saw Zogby's 5:00 electoral vote projection. He had Kerry at 311 but I realized that if we got Florida and Ohio, which he had given to Kerry, all we needed was one more small state. Figured we'd get either Nevada or New Mexico. Then the trick was to suffer through the FL and OH count. Another beautiful day to serve the Corps.

I gotta admit, I was incommunicado from 3:30 until I cast my vote at 6:00 PM. At the time I cast my vote, I was pretty sure it was in a losing cause, but I was not going to let that keep me away from the polls.

As soon as I got home and logged on to FR, things started to look up!

When I walked out of my office at 5:30 last night, my boss asked me what my prediction was. I said, "Kerry is going to win". This is after predicting a Bush win for months on end. He asked why and I used the exit polls as my source. I bought in the whole way. Thank God they were "wrong".

Well I have to admit that the exit polls didn't sway my optimism any more that CBS's fraudulent document story. I was so optimistic yesterday, that I even thought Bush would take my state of Oregon right up until they called the state for Kerry shortly after the polls closed here. I have gotten to the point that I don't believe much of anything I read or hear from the media, especially when it comes to the subject of politics, until I can verify the facts for myself.

While I had been praying for President Bush's reelection, I will admit that last night when it came out that we needed to seal the win with Ohio, which was running fairly close, I decided that perhaps I hadn't prayed quite enough. I started praying some more along with lots of other freepers, and the lead in Ohio got larger. By the time I went to bed about 2:00 a.m. I was back to being confident that President Bush had been reelected.

I was less optimistic, however, that Kerry would concede any time soon. In fact I still don't believe he will truly concede, given that his campaign has called his concession speech a "Directional Statement". I do not expect to hear the words concede, lost, or anything comparable out of Kerry's mouth. I fully expect Kerry to tell the country that President Bush needs to unite America, its allies, and work with the U.N., lead our country in a new direction...yada yada yada...

I don't want to sound like a genius or anything, but as an engineer by training, you learn to "sanity check" numbers quickly. When you get a result very different from expectations you stop and examine it. When I saw the numbers by state I immediately knew they were garbage (you can find my posts on FR at the time). When you see a battleground state split 60/40 either way, you know you have a data problem.

My heart was pounding so hard! You know the cartoons that have the character's heart visibly pounding in their chest(like when they see a pretty girl...you know the one)? Well, that was me but it wasn't love, I was so nervous. Praying the whole night!!!

Intraday exit polls are junk. They should be ashamed of themselves for even releasing this type of garbage.

If it is from exit polls, the data is garbage.

"Exit Polling: Which network do you trust the most?"

In this case, none of them because I don't trust exit polling.

And I still stand by my answer! Don't trust polling - it's one hell of a roller coaster ride that leaves you down way more than it picks you up IMHO.

"I gave up on polls weeks before the election...."

So did I, but I gave up because of all the voter fraud that people kept uncovering in state after state. I have been on pins and needles for ages maybe because I live in such a corrupt state and I have seen repeatedly election after election what they can do to the rest of us by manipulating the Philly vote. Thank you Freepers for getting me through another election. I only lurked 4 yrs. ago, but you got me through that one too.

Voted yesterday morning, got ready for a day-and-evening-long tension build-up, then suddenly thought: "No matter who's the president of the United States, God's still the King of the Universe."

So, went home after work, hardly watched any TV coverage of the election, went to bed early and was happily ignorant of most of the exit poll horsecrap. I figured W woud win and that I'd find out about it tomorrow.

The bottle of Courvoisier helped, too.

Am fairly new freeper.....not used to "MSM" as an abbreviation. In my occupation of medicine, we use that definition to mean "Men who have Sex with Men"--> can't say "homosexual" anymore....
Interesting twist on MSM abbreviations.....!
