Carry ~ecurbh~ around the world! I am going to try to just let him work with her.... I would love to feel like he could take her out the first time... I can't wait for him to try her out.... very nervous!

She does have good legs, and and she looks nice under saddle. Plus, I'm a sucker for a bay! She has a nice muscular shoulder. There's something about her topline that I don't like, though. The way her back blends into her croup, but it could be the hollowness of her hip throwing me off. It also could be an Arab thing that I'm not aware of, so take my blathering with a grain of salt! :-)

She doesn't have a great big hip. And she does have a fairly short flat Arab croup. She needs weight and conditioning all over, but especially behind. I think she is going to have to be really encouraged to engage her hind end. She doesn't know a thing about collection now.

That first pic is the most unflattering pose for her hind end.... Here's another shot where she is standing better...

I think she looks very pretty. We have a bay, too - the one with the problem hoof - So you went to look at another horse and ended up buying this one instead..... I'm still thinking about the medicine hat paint I saw this morning...

. Have you named her yet (sorry my question mark key is sticking so I'm asking all these questions and cannot use it ). I bet you're excited...

We went originally to look at a 15 year old Arab mare at a different place.... very sadly lame and could barely walk. Sweet personality too. I really wish I could have taken her just to give her some relief, but I just can't. I also wish I hadn't been so polite to those people.

This horse is registered as "Cynnamine" or something like that.... goes by "Cyn". Not sure if we'll go with that.... ecurbh not sure he wants a horse named "Sin". ;~D

Medicine hats are real different! Paint people, just love 'em!

I am reading your post #22 about posting photos - if I have photos on my desktop - is there a different method --- I don't have a code to indicate where they are - I have a Mac computer and the pics I have of our horses are in my computer in the iphoto section.... Thanks in advance for any help you can give me on this.....

You need to load them to a photo hosting place... You can get an account at http://www.snapfish.com/

They are free for a year, and after that, they just want you to buy some prints or a mug or something.

Nice horse.

I don't care if their pink, what you look for in a nice horse is a good mind and good conformation.

Shes got a nice long neck and good front shoulder that come together at a 45% angle, she should be smooth riding.

Her under belly is long and her back short she won't kick herself.

Short cannon bones, long forelegs, good angle and short pasterns, not big boned but not small either just about right for her breeding.

She has a good gaskin muscle and you can see she will muscle up all over when you put some wet saddle blankets on her.

She has a medium to small head and good big eyes.

Her hip is Arab, but I believe when you get her fed out that hip will get bigger than you think.

Its hard to tell from the pictures on her rear legs, but they look like they would be slightly under her and that is good, her front legs look good and straight.

Try the complete feed, you will be amazed how fast she will put on weight and bulk.

IMO if she has a good mind I'd say you've done good. :)

If you don't mind me asking, what did ya give for her?

Yep - we've thought of that with this new possibility - we've concluded the App will pick up the white of the Paint and the reddish brown of the bay and make them all 3 look like they "go together"..... This is my 11 year old's conclusion :)

I agree on the name - "sin" wouldn't be my first choice - I've never been able to understand people who name their horses names like "Trouble" - what do they expect ---- Almost like telling your child - they will never be any good or something like that.....

Well, don't go with "she horse " . I'm not through with it yet :')

Why is she underweight, Hair?

I don't mind! $1200. We didn't dicker about it. She's young and the price was fair. Pricing is so subjective in horses.

She seemed real quiet and easy to be around from a short excited nervous (on our part) meeting. Easy to touch all over, including ears and mouth, and easy to pick up her feet. It was dinner time and she had rights to be crabby when the other horses got taken away to the barn so we could ride.... She thought they were getting dinner and she wasn't, but she kept going and made no fuss.

She may pick up and develop more opinions on better feed, but I think she is basically willing and easy.

Her other horses were healthy but lean too.... some people just keep them pretty lean. Some people think Ann Coulter is pretty ;~D Me... I like a little meat on them. :~D

Ann a nice looking TB. I just prefer QH's:') I was wondering because I know why SL was underweight. It's good that you met the original owners. I don't think I want another horse that can't be tracked from birth. If I had the place and was younger I would just raise my own.

Not bad.

but I think she is basically willing and easy.

Well with her conformation and a willing mind you have the makings of a nice horse. Have fun. :)

It's pretty unusual really to buy a middle aged horse that's one owner. People trade horses around. Some people like to breed and sell babies, some people like to buy babies and train them... and some people buy and sell horses as a hobby. Not very many people raise a horse all the way through and then sell ;~D

We could have paid more for a really finished show horse. But she seemed like a real good place to start.

The lame one was $600...

The Paint I would have looked at tomorrow is $2300....

Since ecurbh and I have to buy a horse, truck and horse trailer by spring, we need to be frugal. ;~D
