My other Sarah (my 3 y/o granddaughter in Florida) keeps calling us. I guess she is using a redial button. She says her momma and daddy watching a movie and won't go get them. It's so cute but no telling how much it's costing them.

So about what age do they start to turn?

Arabs that will turn grey turn when they lose their foal coat and get progressively lighter each year.

Funniest looking thing in the world is an Arab that is born chestnut and greys out with the foal coat. They grey out first around the eyes and nose. They look so ugly evidently no one takes pictures of them. I tried unsuccessfully to find one on google. ;~D

:') Strange, but I have not seen one horse that I thought ugly. Seems like I like um all. Some just prettier than others. I'm the same way with dogs. Too ugly just down right cute to me, I guess:')

I like greys... My stallion was a grey. It's just a really funny looking phase they go through when they shed out. They can be any color brown, with big grey circles around their eyes.

Good morning.

Still raining here.

Anyone have a clue why they locked the thread about Reeves? Just curious.

Rude behavior. I was up in the middle of the night, and threads were getting pulled left and right. Politics trumps good manners sometimes on Free Republic!

His activism for research of any kind into his own cure was for me, understandable, and I didn't blame him even if I couldn't agree with his idea for where the research should go.

He is/was a reminder that our sport is dangerous. Rarely as seriously as his injury, but all active sports have some potential for harm. Of course, so does the bath tub. So we choose our activities try to be careful and and hope for the best.

Good morning.

Oh, OK. I knew he was for that, just didn't think about it when I saw the thread pulled.

I think it rained here all night. Which is news for Bixby, it is in a flood plain. I'm wondering if it's flooding in town. It would just be street flooding. I guess it's suppose to rain most of the day.

This has been a rainy week for you... Hope it ends before you have any serious flooding there. We are going to go buy materials for starting the new stalls today... Bay and the pony's good will to not make trouble in the barn shouldn't be tested forever.

Morning. No idea. There is one open right now about several already pulled or locked. People are fussing with each other about stuff like "alrady posted, no it wasn't, do a search, make me, lol". Maybe the mods waiting for clarification. Remember that actress that was supposed to have died but didn't.

Morning. I stayed up for about the 1st 100 on the original thread. I guess things got ugly then, huh?

Eddie and I were talking about this awhile back. Safety should be a priority but as you say injuries can happen anywhere.

Thanks for the compliment. I got off here last night, and didn't get to reply. We have been very lucky, not to have any rain for a couple of weeks. It was a opportunity to get a lot done. As President Bush would say, "It's a lot of hard work". :)

LOL. I have learned that anything regarding horses is hard work, from working to keep them fed, to keeping their grounds. I think that's going to be a keeper for GB though. One of the things I like about him, is that he can laugh at himself:')

Good Morning!! I have a question about hay - do any of you feed round bales - if so - how do you "manage" them - do you use a "feeder" or just put them out .... Adding the 3rd horse plus not much rain has taken a toll on our pasture - I think I need to put some hay out for them - they are out all the time - have large barn they can go into - we feed grain once a day ..... Thanks in advance for your expertise....

I use complete pellets, but I know alot of people who use round bales. Some with feeders some just loose. The ones that feed loose do have alot of waste. The ones who use feeders the feeder well rub alot of their manes out from putting their heads thru it but less waste.

The horse I have here now that I'm riding for a girl gets round bales, but she peels off hay from the round bale and feeds it that way, less waste, but that is alot of trouble, and the bale tends to get more moisture and more likely to mold that way, I don't recommend that, and won't give a customer that option anymore.

Around here, people use round bales for cattle but rarely for horses. Here, at least, they rarely cure well enough before baling, and either rot in the center or become raging infernos.

I missed the initial thread, and mostly saw all the people complaining about how many times it had been posted, and yet, if none of the posts survive, has it really been posted ? :~D

Our neighbors in back have a feeder for rounds in their back pasture but had all their horses in the front pasture this weekend with a new round that was NOT in a round metal feeder. The horses loved it, that's for sure. They pulled it apart, spread it around and all 6 of them layed around on it like it was a Sunday at the beach in the sun. All they needed was some sunglasses and a small portable radio with favorite horsey tunes.
