"Saw "King Arthur" tonight here, as well. Enjoyed it! Don't know that I'd call it a "chick flick", though..."
I interpreted that as "inclusive chick flick", meaning it has stuff chicks will like in addition to what guys will like--at least that's what I'm hoping it meant! :)

Oh... it must be getting late. I'm getting even slower than usual...
Rose thinks Ioan Gruffudd (Lancelot in "King Arthur") is cute.
To: Bear_in_RoseBear
So apart from being not a chick flick, what was it like?

Oh, lots of fighting action. I'm not familiar enough with that historical period to be too upset with the liberties taken. Although I think the big steel longswords (such as Excalibur) were an anacronism. On the whole I enjoyed it!
By the way, speaking of Ioan Gruffudd, you may find this story of interest!

Cool! I like their choice for Ben Grimm :)
It's about that time here, so, g'night, all!

Morning! Am off to my beloved home state of AZ today w/ Mom. Will fly back Tues. Prob'ly won't post much till then.
Got a hold of an "Emeril" recipe for carrot cake. It was fabulous. Big'ol and I figure we won't start back on the 'healthy eating diet' till I get back from AZ. Heh heh heh.
Have seen a couple of DVD movies lately: Cold Mountain- almost as bad as Legends of the Fall. Don't waste your time or money. The story was tedious, the characters were dull (except for Renee Zellweger's), there was stupid gratuituous nudity. It was awful. To think it was even considered for any academy awards is flabberghasting.
Also saw Secondhand Lions. Oh my what a wonderful little movie. Little Haley Joel remains a strange kid- or is at least still playing his characters strangely. But Michael Caine and Robert Duvall were a delight. This is a movie that, if you haven't seen it, you should see as soon as possible.

We are fond of the Arthurian tales, also. My current favorite rendition is a 'historical' interpretation by Jack Whyte. It's a very pragmatic approach, told through the POV of Roman officers who choose to 'retire' in Britian. They establish an outpost of civilization against the chaos that ensues after Rome withdraws. This becomes the future 'Camulod'. There's no hocus-pocus magic- it's all quite plausible and very, very good. It's quite a long series, but starts with The Skystone.

Good morning :)
I was referencing an episode of South Park. The adults were gathered in one home to watch a meteor shower; the kids were sent to the basement. Pip and Butters "played" a silly "English" game which involved a sing-song happy chant accompanied by a dance of sorts. I was wondering if anyone else remembered that.

Mst be something wrong with me...I might have seen that Steve Martin show twice , both times over 15 years ago, and that quote brought it all (OK, a lot of it) back.
Thanks :)
