I have got to ask. As a Godzilla fan, are you a Republican? I refuse to spend any more money on dims. So come out of the closet and tell us now.

Of course I am. I've been voting Republican my whole life, except for one idiotic vote for Ross Perot I made when young and stupid and angry.
What's it got to do with Dims? This thread was meant a a diversion from politics that fans could hit for a laugh or two, then go back to the debating.

Right you are...check it out: GINO returns, to get his arse kicked:
For the 50th anniversary of the Godzilla series, in the movie finale FINAL WARS, the American Godzilla will be making an appearance. The X-seijin who plan on conquering the earth, create and release a murderous kaiju called Zilla in Sydney, Australia. An all-out battle unfolds between Zilla and Godzilla. In this dream battle between the Japanese and American Godzilla, Kitamura said with confidence, "I wanted to do something that nobody would expect."
The American Godzilla has a gigantic head, a long tail that makes you think of a lizard and thin limbs. After 6 years since its debut, its been revived. Now he challenges the Japanese Godzilla for the title of "Godzilla".
Even in Japan, Godzilla (98 American version) was a hit, taking in around 30 million dollars. However, there was a controversy about the design regarding the pros and cons of it. Director Kitamura is one of the critics too, and says he can watch and enjoy the American Godzilla if he keeps in mind that this is not the real Godzilla. In order to have the Japanese Godzilla protect his own namesake, the American Godzilla was selected to do battle with him.
The production staff makes sure the rights to use Godzilla are exclusive to Toho. In America there are imitation products on the market that have the name"Zilla."Producer Tomiyama has the ability to get rid of these products if he chooses to. Tomiyama thinks that the American Godzilla is a representation of these imitation products therefore he named the American Godzilla in FINAL WARS simply "Zilla". The significance of this perfectly suits this kaiju who has had the word "God" taken out from the name "Godzilla".
When Zilla appears in Sydney, humanitys last hope is a revived Godzilla who is beneath the ice in Antarctica to do battle with it. The details of the battle are under wraps, but the Sydney street will be decimated. Kitamura, who studied film direction in Australia, said it would be an honor to have Godzilla destroy his second home.
"I want to compete with America. I want to overwhelm the American Godzilla (which is a symbol of CG) with the Japanese technique of suitmation,"says Kitamura. In the movie, Godzilla is made from a suit, and Zilla is made from CG. "Im putting in the movie what people all over the world want...Zilla. I want to reach the height of the series and return Godzilla back to being strong and cool again. There are times also when Godzilla behaves affectionately and humorously which I think will make Roland Emmerich laugh if he sees this movie," Kitamura says with confidence. FINAL WARS opens December 4th.
This film will SO rock...

No sweat. GFW looks like it'll be one Helluva flick. I might even start looking forward to seeing a movie again. Haven't done that since LOTR finished up.

Uh .. Ummm, hey don't take it personally, I was asking the lizard. I refuse to go to a movie, or buy any DVDs unless the movie stars in the film are Republicans. It's a personal boycott thing with me.
You saying you speak for the lizard, you sure Gozilla is a Republican? I didn't know Godzilla could vote, kinda big to fit in the booth, shrug, but if you say so, ok, I'll go see the movie. But I will be watching closely to see if there are any wisecrack Republican digs coming from the big guy.
Thanks for clearly that up, now .. inhale, exhale, inhale, exhale ..

Hey, sorry, but on a LOT of threads lately, people always seem to ask "Are you a Republican?" of anyone they happen to disagree on a point with. It's gotten me itchy.
As for Godzilla, he's a Japanese citizen, so he can't even vote in the US. His overall outlook is certainly conservative, though. Other than that, he's stayed clear of politics his whole "life".
Most of the other actors in G-films are Japanese too. You might see the odd American here or there, but they're usually expats.
One thing though...in 1968's Destroy All Monsters, Godzilla burns the UN building to the ground. Close enough? (I always cheer at that scene)

I've seen that too. As if being a Republican is bad. So decided to try it with the big guy for a laugh.
Scifi is my style. I am a big lizard fan. Clean, goofy fun. You can send the kids and they don't get the usual liberal tripe.

True enough, and the films are free of foul language and sexual situations, as well. Most G-films are perfect for children, as kids love big monsters. The only two I'd recomment watching WITH your children are the very first one, and the recent GMK, because the first was done so seriously, and GMK was about the most violent G-film I'd ever seen. Still, it was PG-13 level, but done "seriously", so you might want to watch it first.
Want to get on the 'Zilla Ping List?

Hello, fellow FReeper G-fans! Over on
MonsterZero's homepage, there's some new info regarding GODZILLA: FINAL WARS (GFW). The stories have some actual FOOTAGE of the film for download, pictures of some monsters, including a closeup of the new Hedorah (Smog Monster). Pop on over, take a look, and enjoy!!!
Oh, and it seems that, in the new movie, Godzilla WILL meet his American counterpart (known as "GINO" to fans, from the 1998 American "Godzilla"). There's some footage of him as well.
Personally, I'd LOVE to see the real McCoy kick that dumb, wuss iguana's skinny butt.

I just cut and pasted that last URL I posted in #276. It works fine.
If all else fails, just type "MonsterZero" into Google. It comes up at the top.

Hey, fellow G-Fans! I'm back after a quite busy (But VERY fulfilling and happy) month out-of-touch, but to celebrate my 'net return,
go to this site for some EXCELLENT photos from "GODZILLA: FINAL WARS" in a gallery.
Our old buds at MonsterZero (do a Google search...linking to them is tough!) also have an article up with photos of the upcoming DVD's of Son Of Godzilla and Tokyo: SOS, together with another which shows the upcoming toys from GFW.
Enjoy, and it's good to be back!
