I guess it all depends on how spread out the city is. If it's large enough, you don't feel as cramped when your trying to run errands, etc.
I live in a suburb called Kendall, which used to be mostly Everglades. Now it's one of the most heavily populated areas in Dade County.

Maybe you should sub the cold for the heat! :-)
Fromholz' home town is in my county. 'Bout 20 miles from where I was born. The places he wrote about I know well. And one of the people he mentions there was an old friend of the family. I relate to Texas Trilogy very well. I can't hear it without tears. But I am always surprised when I hear people who aren't from the area around Bosque county or even Texas say they relate to it in that same way.... I thought it was just cause I'm from there.

Finances are tight, so I had to choose between a pedicure and my eyebrows. My eyebrows won! LOL!!
I'll just paint a quick French on my feet before I leave.

Right... With a parka? It is likely! :-)
Well, not a parka. I don't own one of those. But, I have packed a warm enough jacket for weather in the 60's.
I hate to say this, but the jacket kinda clashes with my tropical top. But, if it's chilly the jacket will be closed and no one will notice. :-)

Heh... I'm sure you've heard Kevin Fowler's "Beer, Bait, and Ammo"? I can relate to that song... there were lots of places like that around the U.P.! ;)

It was just a bit of fun!
Well, I am at least going to get a haircut. Got an appt.
All this talk about you guys getting pedicures when I will be lucky to not have dirt in my fingernails. It just isn't me! I don't even know how to have the conversation.

Here, too. Gotta wonder about the little stores that serve as both a bait shop and a deli...
