Even last year was manipulated. Justin Guarini was a no talent nobody.........which is where he is today.

Tamyra had much more talent and her voice is far far superior to Justin's.

We LOVED LaToya and are still stunned that she got voted off.

I never said differently.

Tamyra wrote the song that both Diana and Fantasia sang and will be the first single recorded by tonight's winner.

She should have been in the final with Kelly going head to head, but this show really is neat because you don't have to be THE winner to "make it".

The other night there was a MoTown Special on tv and along with the name singers Kimberly Locke (came in third behind Ruben and Clay) had not one, but two songs and she was just terrific.

Latoya seems like a natural, mature performer. I hope she goes far...

I've been having that argument with my daughter. I think he's a bit racist...or should I say "prone to prefer a certain culture".

.......but the public still decides in the end.

Not really. The judges have the right to overrule the vote. It's in the contract the contestants sign. Will we ever know if they actually do this.....ofcourse not. We'll just be told "America voted and....."

After Clay being forced to sing a verse he hadn't rehearsed last year because the show was running short and Diana's ear piece going out on her last song last night, I wouldn't put anything past that bunch of bozos.

They are killing the goose who laid the golden egg.

I finally decided the difference for my taste between Fantasia and Diana.

Diana has a more sophisticated voice and I can see it being developed into a career that can handle a variety of styles.

Fantasia is a great performer and has a knack for drawing in the viewer. I think, though, that her voice may not be as rich.

If I close my eyes and listen, Diana is the better singer and Fantasia, the more seasoned entertainer. So I guess it is a matter of how weighty each factor is.

I do believe that I would tire of Fantasia's voice long before I would Diana's.

I forgot to add that my #1 pick would have been LaToya. She had it all; beautiful voice, stage presence and looks. I lost a little bit of heart when she was rejected.

IMHO, the reason so many tune in to Idol is to escape the leftist media. I need a break from the lying libs......so I watch Idol, Bachelor which was dreadful this time, and home decorating or whatever. Just something to lull the mind for a time.

I love Clay tho.

I think Randy's been called on his overt support for the black contestants whether they merit that support or not, so he's definitely changed his 'tune' lately.

The show has made the kids who watch quite cynical which is a shame.

I can see her as a lounge singer, and I don't mean that in a negative way. In the Bobby Short type of venue. As in the old days at the Plaza. She has class and style, not suited to today's younger raucus style.

Diana looks just fine! Many supermodels couldn't hold a candle to Diana's figure.

I agree completely.

I didn't care for "I Believe" either. It was a bit disjointed feeling.

I like Simon a whole lot, but declaring a winner before the results is not fair to anyone involved. What if Fantasia doesn't win? I heard that Paula already congratulated her too.

The pressure on Diana must have been very heavy. Poor kid.

We shall see. I bet that it will be close.

True, Diana looks fine. However the second part (about many supermodels not being able to hold a candle to Diana's figure) is pure hyperbole. Diana would not even be noticed, from a physical point of view (and you were talking about figures). Not even close. She doesn't have the looks, the height, the exoticness or the figure to be considered for most normal model positions let alone to be placed above a super model (again, in physical terms)

Anyways, Diana still looks sweet and attractive, and like an 'everyday girl.' She can sing too, and she seems to be a very genuine girl. And that is the important thing.

However saying many supermodels couldn't hold a candle to her is at the very least overt hyperbole. At the very least.

LaToya was my hands down favorite also....until I saw her interviewed on one of those Monday night American Idol supplement shows.

I know we're supposed to base our choice on voice alone, but it's hard for me. She's been married for two years, with two teenage stepdaughters and was asked how her winning might impact the family.

She said her husband was doing fine with the girls before they married, and would do fine now...and that she was looking so forward to him traveling all over with her if she won. No mention of the girls.

Sounded like a Dr. Laura moment.

I feel sorry for the children of divas.

Ruben who? :) They showed very poor judgment in pushing Ruben so heavily, and I think they're doing the same with Fantasia. Neither will ever be pop idols.. On the other hand, I can easily see Diana becoming a big hit with the tweeners.

Remember last year how there was no head-to-head singing of the same song in the final? Made perfect sense from their perspective, since Ruben couldn't stand on the same stage with Clay singing the same song. Then last night, the head-to-head was back. With a black gospelesque choir number. No favoritism there.

Something I never paid any attention to until a week ago: "Phone lines will be open for at least two hours after the show." (Emphasis mine.) In a straight vote, when Democrat judges aren't involved, since when are voting times/periods flexible? Leave the lines open until they get the result they want? Or shut 'em down at straight two hours if they do have the results they want?

I too think they're gonna be disappointed with the results of their Fantasia campaign, as they surely are with Ruben Who by now. In the advanced stage of the competition, they should've taken a hint when she was in the bottom three on three occasions, the bottom two twice. And you may rest assured that she was the middle vote-getter last week. If she had been the top vote-getter, they would've done the "Fantasia, you're safe," routine. They didn't. They just announced who was leaving.

Oh, and I think Latoya will succeed just fine without the show. She's a beautiful, mega-talented lady who conducted herself with nothing but class from beginning to end.

It must be tough for them. No matter how much wealth a celebrity accumulates and the family enjoys, it doesn't replace the presence and involvement of a parent in a child's life. Sad, indeed.

I wonder if that interview had anything to do with LaToya's lack of votes the following week. That's the only thing I could think of.
