I have 3 or 4 novels charted and started 50-200 pages each already written. I have a book on southern humor and redneck wisdom 100 pages so far. Outlines for 15 to 20 more books. Haven't written 5 pages in two years. I need a 6 month paid sabbatical, I could get something finished.

I have a reliable publishing agent, (worked with a friend of mine to get published and they are doing very well), who keeps begging me to finish what they have seen. I keep saying get me an advance and it's done. ; ) LOL

Congratulations!

It's like sending off a child, isn't it?

And now time is going to slow to a crawl, as they laboriously etch the stones for each page.

Are they predicting twelve to sixteen weeks for the process?

Thank You Bob.

Are they predicting twelve to sixteen weeks for the process?

Yes, it seems that is the norm for their typesetters to set the book. Then the galley comes back for me to edit their mistakes, back to them, etc.

"...back for me ... back to them, etc."

Yep, it's going to be a long summer for both of us.

And for everybody who wants to read a book.

Not out yet, no.

It has been in the publisher's hands for a little over a month, however, so I may beat you to publication.

Also, mine has no illustrations, other than verbal, so it should be a relatively simple set-up. I have no idea why publishing takes so long for initial set-up, especially considering they are working from electronic information anyway, not longhand.

Congratulations Bob, this is great news.

Well, I do know something about that Bob. Each poem, article, what ever is hand type using a type setters soft ware.
How many pages makes a difference, and as you mentioned graphics. Did you submit on a disc? Makes things a little faster. but the same about of time no matter how it gets to the publisher.

Yes, it's a novel, submitted on disc.

The subject is Science Fiction, and the title will be Outlandish! Um, so will the story.

LOL!
"Well, 'tis a silly story."
*groans*
How come I get the feeling that a good portion of it is inspired by the goings on here on FR on some of the more odd and bizarro world threads?
;-)

"...inspired by the goings on here on FR on some of the more odd and bizarro world threads?"

No. Not to any degree. It is, pardon the expression, a different world.

About a thousand years in the future, and very far away, in the isolated and unusual position that the survivors of the Bounty mutiny found themselves on Pitcairn Island.

Cut off, isolated, and extremely lacking in certain useful amenities, they cope as best they can. To the extent that what they come to view as normal, we will tend to think is quite Outlandish!

Good nite poets

May the sweet aroma of Lily of the Valley
fill your dreams
caress your face
tenderly lull you to sleep
in the safety of knowing love...

~ Dream a Little ~ Love a Lot ~

Today

Should thou lovest me this day
I would be content in today
not ask for tomorrow...
But... live this day only
in splendor of knowing
thou lovest me today...
