i could never leave you
my being resides in your spirit
your eyes are my light
your desires are my path
if we parted there would be no me
i would be empty inside
the fire in me would cease
without you to ignite the flame
you are my warmth
my joy
my need
my love
lay with me
rest in my arms
happy in our love
and comforted in my promise

If Ever I Would Leave You
If ever I would leave you
It wouldn't be in summer.
Seeing you in summer I never would go.
Your hair streaked with sun-light,
Your lips red as flame,
Your face with a lustre
that puts gold to shame!
But if I'd ever leave you,
It couldn't be in autumn.
How I'd leave in autumn I never will know.
I've seen how you sparkle
When fall nips the air.
I know you in autumn
And I must be there.
And could I leave you
running merrily through the snow?
Or on a wintry evening
when you catch the fire's glow?
If ever I would leave you,
How could it be in spring-time?
Knowing how in spring I'm bewitched by you so?
Oh, no! not in spring-time!
Summer, winter or fall!
No, never could I leave you at all!
This is the first thing that crossed my mind when I read your poem. Beautiful work, you been talking to Trike?

Beautiful poem snippy. You have expressed in a few words a very powerful human need - love.

A STUMP FOR A TAIL

You can't buy loyalty, they say
I bought it though, the other day;
You can't buy friendship, tried and true,
Well just the same, I bought that too.
I made my bid, and on the spot
Bought love and faith and a whole job lot
Of happiness, so all in all
The purchase price was pretty small.
I bought a single trusting heart,
That gave devotion from the start.
If you think these things are not
for sale, Buy a brown-eyed puppy with
a stump for a tail.

We are stardust. We are golden.
Stars dont have much use for gold,
Its just a form of ash.
And with their energy budget,
They have no need for cash.
They are the real gas guzzlers,
Consuming all they can,
They burn it til they blow it all,
But that has brought us Man.
We are not stuff of legend,
Were merely made of dust.
But all that dust was born in stars,
Hellish wombs of fiery lust.
Considering that origin,
And with Gods Breath of Life,
Can anyone still wonder,
About why there is strife?
We are such polar constructs,
Angelic, but so base,
Like oysters, weve a pearl inside,
A soul has found a place.
Of Heavens elements we craft,
From sacred to profane,
A lustre of our spectral past,
That God Himself may gain.

My dogs both have long, furry, wagging tails but the rest is true also. Gotta love dogs. :-)

Ah good morning Sam.
An adorable poem and graphic today. Love the tunes too. Fascination is a beautiful song. Moonlight Gambler another golden oldie. Of course, you knew I love Frankie Laine. :-)
Thanks for coffee, donuts, tunes and poetry.

Good morning Bob. Lovely poem this morning.
Of Heavens elements we craft,
From sacred to profane,
A lustre of our spectral past,
That God Himself may gain.
Beautiful.

Good morning, everyone! A gray and gloomy Monday here .. perfect for my muse :)
New Love and Old
Sarah Teasdale
In my heart the old love
Struggled with the new;
It was ghostly waking
All night through.
Dear things, kind things,
That my old love said,
Ranged themselves reproachfully
Round my bed.
But I could not heed them,
For I seemed to see
The eyes of my new love
Fixed on me.
Old love, old love,
How can I be true?
Shall I be faithless to myself
Or to you?

Good morning Colonel Flagg!!!!
What a quandary Sarah is in this morning! Dang, it's like that most of the time.
Sun is shining in the Empire State, whoa, what happened?? LOL

Sarah had a tough life, I think. Which is unfortunate, in retrospect.
As for the sun shining, I think you're somewhat east of me. :)
