I haven't heard anything about that? But if it's something our goverment is trying to do, I'll probably be against it:)

Why do I think they won't? - Because my prissy horses never have had to try! ;~D
Seriously, when I was training at the prissy show barn and my horse lost a shoe I was told it would make them lame to work them that way, because of the uneven weight, and height, of one foot compared to the other. It makes sense to me that it would feel uneven for them and they might move uneven, so I've never questioned that. You are the first one I have seen work them that way.
And, my pony's feet don't break evenly when I have let them go too long, and neither have the severe neglect cases I have seen. Yours might wear evenly ~because~ they are worked hard on hard ground. We don't have a lot of that, and left only on soft ground or turf, they grow ~way~ long and then break too short, and they'd never be the same.
How in the world do you post those html codes like that and they show up. I've tried when explaining how and they never show up.

Haven't heard of it either... State or Fed? Does it have to do with mad cow disease tracking or something else?
Because I have ecurbh sitting by me and he is smart ;~D
Save this if you want to show it to someone else sometime because it always does: Copy or type this: <IMG SRC="http://url of the picture">
Well the part about them not getting the chance to grow long is the trick, I think. From everything I read before I decided to try this experiment said that horses on hard rocky ground do better then on soft pasture because of just what you say. We'll see about that:)
About them being off balance with one shoe off, I don't see that so much IF the foot hasn't wore off that much. A shoe is what, 3/8 inch thick. Would that make much difference. Now these horses of mine I was starting to get a bit concerned because the one foot had wore off so much, so I really haven't been working them all that hard. I think it would harm the tendons in their legs more then do damage to their foot. Different angles and things. That's another reason why I'm taking it easy on them now till they get all even.
Any trimming they do need, the guy that pulled them off said he would come and watch ME do it. But I really don't think it will have to be done more then 1-2 times a year. (fingers crossed:)

I haven't heard anything about this. What are they up to now? :'(
One important note on this... You have to have at least one HTML tag somewhere in your post (such as a paragraph <p>) for FR to "see" the HTML code for the symbols.
Thanks for the info. I have a feeling if my DIL ever gets on here she will want to know how to do it. Maybe this will make it easier. I finally went to Doot's house and wrote it on a paper for her:)

Okie hardly stumbles at all now that he has been in the pasture. He isn't allowed in the barn anymore because he wants back in his stall but he's doing better. I didn't ride today because I have church but I went out there for a little while to check on him and put in his eye drops. I watched how they feed. There are 9 of them and 8 buckets. He ended up the number 3 guy. I would want to be the pony though. He's at the bottom and the big guys for some reason go up and he gets his last , on the ground and nobody bothers him.
Mine can be grained also together because Bay gets his first, and the pony gets less so she can start later and still be done first. Sometimes he still can finish and run her out of hers if she was too slow, but it's just empty bucket licking at that point.
It would be a challenge with ~nine~ I hope to find a new horse for ecurbh that won't upset my pasture pecking order too much. I'd like to see Bay retire as lead man.
Yeah we are getting ready to leave for church too.

Okie was a little confused. He knew it was x to eat but went to the wrong end. He was ready to eat before anyone else and kept pacing from bucket to bucket .
Yeah, my husband ready to buy a horse. I just have to keep him away from the auctions. He wants a paint mare. (Becky, I need another horse lol). We are supposed to look at one up around Austin weekend after next. A 7 y/o. I really wish he would hold off just a little while til I can find our own place but once Eddie makes up his mind he's ready to move on it though.
Well, if he gets the horse now, you'll know more about what kind of place you need to get for the two personalities ;~D
OK - Bay is standing tied waitin' so we'll be back later!
Ecurbh, that's ok lol. I run my hand up Okies front leg and I start the blanket in the middle. I have a black tab on the front and back and I make sure it's lined up with his backbone. Then I put the saddle on. The horn must be in the middle on the lettering and the back strip matched up with the blanket. Then I pull the cinch. If it isn't right behind his legs I have to reaign. Then I pull up the blanket under the horn. After all of that I go to Okies front and gently lower his head to make sure everything balanced. The remarkable thing is that he patiently sits thru this (takes about 15 minutes) and even lowers his head for me now :') Got to go. I'll tell you about the briddle when I get back if you want:')
I don't know if he has a process that is that scientific, lol... That is prolly why he has to sit and turn it around awhile.
