I have a feeling that is why they are bringing him to an arena, make it more controlled. But if I think a disaster is going to happen, I'll really, no joking aside, make them leave. It won't happen here. Alot depends on the ability of the girl riding. I know the horse was sent last year to a trainer. HE rode the horse, but told the owners it was way to much horse for their abilities and if they were going to keep him, just keep him for a pet.
I just don't think the owner understands what's going on with the horse, and thinks that anyone who knows HOW to run barrels properly will be able to run them on him. That's why she wanted me or Doot to ride him. She doesn't get that the horse is probably dangerous for the average rider. It's going to take a very strong person to stay aboard and in control.

Well, I hope the girl knows what she is doing, and also has the judgment to know what she ~should~ be doing. The skill is important, but the attitude is vital!
Bingo:), That is the hardest part of riding. It's something that can't be taught. Its something people either have naturally, or comes with practice, but it's hard to teach.
I remember when I first started riding. I had this horse who now I realize was testing me, and I wasn't handling it. Is all everyone kept telling me was "Get on that horse and ACT like you know what you are doing!" I just couldn't get it, and got very afraid of the horse. I landed up having to get rid of her and try another. But I understand NOW what they were trying to tell me, and it would have worked:)
Becky
Thanks. It looks like it's going to be a hot but nice day here too.
I've got my housework done, sorta:), going to do this bookwork for an hour or so, then go ride.
Becky
Well I'm still leaving at 2:30 :') (just have to make up the time later). Got Mr Okies afternoon all planned out .
Becky
Hard to see perspective! - How big is that thing?
Egads!
Bigger then I like seeing:)
Looks when he is not all curled up, he's probably about 3 inches across. and 5 inches long.
I've noticed a big draw back to having the garden, we just put it in last year. It seems to attact these guys. I had more of them up in the garden last year then I had ever had that close to the house. And here it is May and their back. I don't really know what to do to keep them away, but I may try to find out. I don't like them by the house. But they are suppose to be very good at keeping wasps away, and we have alot of wasps too. Always have had them. They make their nests under the eaves of the house.
Becky
I have never lived where there were spiders big enough to have fur!
LOL
It took some getting use too:)I don't run shrieking anymore. Even prodded this one with a stick to get a better picture.
Becky
I've occasionally seen some as big as my palm around here. We have the mosquitos out now:'(
Spiders don't bother me. I just squash um. I'll hurt myself trying to get away from a snake though.
Well, I may not ride today. I have Rusty out and the three shoes that are still on are all crooked, so one way or the other their coming off today. It may take me awhile, but I'm afraid with the way the shoes have twisted the could clip themselves on their opposite ankle. Altho that probably would do anything serious, it can't be comfortable. If I get them off quick I'll go ahead and ride.
Becky
I'm just the opposite, altho getting better. I don't like any kind of bug. Snakes if I know they are not poisnious I leave then alone, Have had black snakes live in my feed room. If their poisionous I chop their heads off if it's close to the house. If their out in the woods I leave them alone. Eveything has a purpose. But spiders scorpions and centepedies, yuk, and I can't even step on them. They crunch. The kids always did it for me or I get a can of bug spray and spray them.
Becky
Thinking about sending one of my sons to ferrier school. Just haven't decided which one (just joking, maybe:') I thought I was getting by for 30 dollars. It's actually 50!:'( Even if I stop the shoes he still needs trimming.
Crunch doesn't bother me:') Dead snakes with their head cut off doesn't bother me. Just can't stand the live ones whether dangerous or not :')
$50 is about what I pay for re-set on Bay. When he needs new pads/shoes (about every-other time) it's $100, but he's a specialty case.
I only pay $10 for pony's trimming, she's barefoot, but it's a deal because the farrier is here anyway, he couldn't afford to come out for just her at that price I am sure.
This joker that's been shoeing for me was $45. I shoed every 6wks. I think the normal charge for a shoe job is $15.
Becky
I've never heard of shoeing that low.... trims, yes, but not shoes. $45-$55 is what everyone here charges, maybe a few dollars off if you have several.
