I've been in Condi land today. Watched the whole thing from early this morning. That woman is a heavy hitter. I simply cannot get over how fortunate we are to have adults like her and her colleagues in charge over at 1600. Can you even image those dimwits from Xlinton's regime being in charge on 9-11? [shudder]

I read the transcript and noticed the part where she ambushed him by quoting from his speech :) Looking forward to seeing it--I'm watching this instead of wrestling which is what I usually watch at this time, I figure this should be equivalent :)

I don't admire the political philosophy of GW as much as I do that of Thatcher and Reagan, but I do see GW as a visionary. If he succeeds in pulling off what he's attempting in the Middle East, he'll go down in history as one of the greatest of American presidents.

If he fails, it'll be kind of catastrophic, but I still give him credit for his vision and for risking his presidency on it.

Bush knows, I think, that sooner or later, Islamic terrorists will acquire a WMD and likely set it off in one or several of our cities. I can't believe that everyone doesn't know this after the unprovoked events of 9/11, but they don't. Anyhow, GW is doing the only thing possible to prevent disaster, he's cleaning up the Middle East. It's incredibly ambitious and risky, but anything less is probably even more risky.

Good place to be! I was following the thread on her live this morning in class! I love her! She's another one of us *real* American women! I'm glad there are ladies like that out there for my daughters and granddaughters to see as role models. Myranda likes and respects her tremendously. A mom cannot complain one whit about that! :-)

I will make you laugh maybe. Kimberly is in a grumpy mood tonight. Our president cancelled classes tonight at the last minute to extend the Easter break. Okay, I like that part, but I decided to take advantage of this to go try to buy a pair of shorts to wear to Hair and Ecurbh's wedding. All my shorts I own now that fit are pretty much on the skimpy side. I hate shopping!!! I mean, really I hate it! I didn't find anything I wanted either. So, came home empty handed after a nasty shopping adventure. LOL

I'm even a little more fatalistic about it. I think it is merely a matter of time before a nuclear detonation happens inside the U.S. at the hands of Muslim fanatics. It might not happen for a very long time, but eventually it will.

I suspect the wheels are turning and it's been being in the works for a few years now. IMHO, it is God working for us that has kept this from happening already.

I do agree with you about the visionary nature of W with regard to the middle east. You're right about that.

There is a solid chance that it won't work, and that it will all go totally to hell. But there is a chance too, that it will work, and the taste of freedom might just catch on over there. In my opinion the risk is absolutely worth it. Yes, it's a gamble, but the potential payoff is earthshaking in scope, and the risk of loss is what? That they'll hate us? When you get right down to it, it's a no-brainer of a bet.

Influenced partly by what I've heard from our guys over there, I think that hunger for freedom is alive and well in a lot of the people. They've been so cowed for so long that fear has kept a lid on movements toward liberty for the most part. I think with W standing up for freedom the way he has AND continuing to do so is exactly what those people need to overcome that fear. I don't know how long it could take, but once the thoughts of freedom overcome the fear I think liberty will spread like wildfire.

Whether or not we have the time to buy them the time it takes is the concern. If our efforts are cut short and not brought to this fruitation, they keep their status quo. But, if we continue to stand and give them the time, I think we'll see W's foresight come to pass.

Warren Buffet, of all people, agrees with you, and is in print to that effect. I think the day he said what you just said, stocks slid.

I don't disagree with you, and I believe Bush is on the same page too, that's why he's being so aggressive over there. At least I figure that's why, I never believed taking Saddam's WMD's away was the real reason, except insofar as Bush thought Saddam might lend one to Al Qaeda or somebody.

Well, we turned Japan into a democracy of sorts.
And that is a truly different culture, at least as different as the Arab. 'Course the Japs are a "can do" people, to the nth degree, not to mention racist.

I understand that after blowing that place to hell, and beating the samurai at their own game, our forces had to occupy Japan for 10 years before we could turn them loose.

I think we better be ready to occupy the Middle East for a long time too.
