Were we on the same issue there or different misbehaviors?Different issues. You dared to mention the nuculer[sic] tie. I took the compassionate conservatives to task for telling someone who said they were handicapped and had a terminal illness to take a hike from their thread. One guy actually told him to blow his head off or something like that.

Okay, I've been gone working for a bit so missing out on stuff. But, now, I get to leave and go have my monthly pedicure! Wish you were here to go with me!

Ksen I look at the thread in question and every other thread over there and can't understand what the point is. I can understand the words used, I can tell that people are upset, I can tell that many people are angry and rude, but I can't for the life of me understand why.
So Mormons believe there might be some sins that are so bad they can't or won't be forgiven. Seems like the kind of rule that might keep people from misbehaving, whether it is false, true or whatever. If they don't do the sin, it won't matter if it was unforgivable.
You and and all the other ~isms can spend your whole lives arguing with each other.... I hope God doesn't have to moderate you all in heaven, debating why, as it turns out, you all ended up at the same place.
Maybe this isn't appropriate for this thread. It's too controversial... we can talk on your thread over there if you really care what I think. You never responded to my religious post the other day....

"That's why there's lots of politicking and back-stabbing to advance within the ruling class." Yeah, exactly. That's what happened to this professor. Even though he's a really good professor, as well as being a really good artist, the powers that be want someone else. Back stabbing is very much the right term for the deal.
RE egalitarianism, I have this on my profile page, from the person to whom I credit my finally understanding it:
"Equality of the general rules of law and conduct, however, is the only kind of equality conducive to liberty and the only equality which we can secure without destroying liberty. Not only has liberty nothing to do with any other sort of equality, but it is even bound to produce inequality in many respects. This is the necessary result and part of the justification of individual liberty: if the result of individual liberty did not demonstrate that some manners of living are more successful than others, much of the case for it would vanish. F.A. Hayek

Heh...just another day at the Jedis' residence, no? ;-)
The main deal with the SBD is that it emphasizes "good" carbs and fats (i.e. olive oil is a "good" fat, and the carbs in vegetables are "good" carbs) over "bad" fats and carbs. However, it doesn't say absolutely that you can NOT have sugar or potato chips in the later phases, but they should be occasional treats, not something you have every day, or in big quantities. So it's a little more flexible. I dunno if I could stay on Atkins forever, which is why I would be afraid to start it...I'm afraid I'd be doomed to fail. THIS, I think I can do - because once I'm down to my goal weight, I can HAVE the occasional piece of pie or vacation time where I don't worry about what I eat, so long as I stick to the basic rules.

Steve will probably stick to the Atkins way devotedly...loosing all that weight was almost a religious experience to him! But I'm like you...I'm gonna have my Baskin Robbins now and then! LOL

You never responded to my religious post the other day....We can talk wherever, whenever, and about whatever you want to talk about Hair. I must have missed your religious post the other day. Do you have a link?
I have plenty of excuses for missing your post but they don't matter because I should have seen it and addressed it. I'm sorry about that.
You don't have to understand what's going on over there, I was just wondering if it looked to you like I was being derisive and condescending on the thread I linked to.

If nothing else, though, this is helping me improve my eating habits! I'm eating more vegetables and such than I EVER would normally.

It was on the NES thread that evidently got locked.... and it isn't important now...
I made a metaphor post about the Model A rides at amusement parks wondering why it mattered if we think we are driving the car or it was on a track, if it was gonna end up at the same place anyhow...
"What difference does it make" seems to be a recurring theme with me :~D

YES! Even the jedis are eating healthier! It really has effected the entire family.
Joshua was looking at a teabag once, it said "1 Teabag". He pointed to it and said "Look Mom! It only has one cob!"

Must be the redneck woman in me.I think any thinking person has problems with that. When you work in science, engineering, or any other discipline that deals with the real world, you quickly find out that reality does not rearrange itself for the convenience of your theories.
Academics live in a world apart, supported and defended by folks in the real world. There they can make their "reality" conform to their wishes. They get their lumps when they mistake their comfy little "reality" for the real world. In most areas of the world, the little people had no guns, so they paid the price for the bill that socialist dreamers ran up.

Jeanne has been sort of intermittently going on the SBD. Since we eat together, I guess that means we both go on it intermittently.
Anyway, I lose a couple lbs. without much effort every time this happens. I think it may be a pretty OK way to eat.

It sounds more the route that I want to go...but I am holding off till I reach my goal weight...which is only three pounds away, but it's taken me 3 weeks to loose 4 pounds! And I gained most of that back last night after eating olives!
Sigh...

I didn't know 'derisive and condescending' were frowned upon on FR, those 2 things seem milder than much of what goes on in the forum.
But I didn't think you were, particularly. "Very pointed" might be a good description of your posts over there, though.

I was just wondering if it looked to you like I was being derisive and condescending on the thread I linked to. I dunno.... I don't think you can look at things under a microscope like only the current thread matters. The moderator knows you, the battles and the issues and the warnings are long standing ones. You start a Mormon thread, you bring your history of battling Mormons with you. You weren't born yesterday, and neither was this debate.
I love ya ksen, but I know ya at least as well as the mod, and when I saw you start the thread, I said... ahh.... kevin is trying to start mischief today!
