I don't have to count carbs, which is good...I'm lousy at calculating such things! Though according to fitday, I'm averaging something like 35 net carbs a day - when I subtract fiber from the whole, that is. That's how you figure it, right?
The main idea of South Beach is that you get your carbs from GOOD sources, like vegetables, nuts, some dairy, some fruits (berries and melon and such), and (eventually, in the later phases) whole grains, rather than sugar, white flour, foods with a high glycemic index like potatoes, or processed starchy things.

Especially now that I've been teaching professionally for the last 3 years I fail to understand why a teacher could hold the egalitarianist thoughts. People like that, like other socialists, dream of an egalitarian world where they exist in a class, and a plane of existence, outside of the mundane realm. Somebody has to make sure that everyone else is exactly equal, usually in equal misery. And those "someones" expect to be richly rewarded for the tough work of lording it over all those "equal people".
But whether it's academia or a socialist "paradise", the elite live themselves in a strict class system. That's why there's lots of politicking and back-stabbing to advance within the ruling class.
Socialism sucks. The results are uniformly awful, yet they expect us to treat the concept with respect.

Heh...let me see, at the least she probably weighed what, five, six hundred pounds? I dunno. A lot more than him, in any case. Did he really think he was gonna have control over her with a rope?

Yeah, Steve doesn't do any of the calculating...I do it all for him and just tell him. We both stay between 20 and 25.
But now he's got a pretty good idea of what he can eat and how much, so that he can do it on his own when he has to...like a couple of days earlier this week when I had a cold and just wasn't up to fixing all our food!
Atkins has certain steps you go through when adding foods back in, but I just blow it off and eat whatever I want, keeping it under the 25 carb count, excluding of course the big no-nos...flour, potatoes, sugar and such. Steve is pretty well following the rules.
I'm not supposed to have any fruit, for example, for a couple more weeks or so...but if I wanted some berries, I'd eat 'em anyway...
I think I'm off of olives for a while! LOL

How is your kitty doin?
Dad's Kitty#6 is still only doing so-so. His digestive tract just still isn't working real well, been back to the vet a couple times, still not eating and drinking well, he just seems to have no appetite and he gets dehydrated which makes him feel lousy. When he's hydrated, his spirits are better, but he just won't eat enough to sustain him. He doesn't look it with all that hair, but he is a rack of bones.

I think before we can discuss whether or not you 'behave' we have to first agree to my definition of the word!
I think that is the trouble the Religion Mod has in dealing with you guys... you actually enjoy argue the meaning of words all day.

Here's the thread I got the latest warning about.....
Let me know where I got out of line, that's what I'm trying to find out.
I was told I was being derisive and condescending on that thread. But I can't see it.

My kitty is doing fine for the moment. I'm supposed to keep an eye out for anything odd, but for now she's just about back to her old self. She's eating fine, following me around and getting in the way as usual, and hogging the best spot by the 'puter when I'm FReepin'.
Poor Kitty#6! Is there anything they can give him to help his digestion and appetite?

Did you see me misbehaving? You posted a thread about a Mormon concept, and since you have no interest in adopting Mormon doctrine I think you probably just felt like fighting today.

You posted a thread about a Mormon concept, and since you have no interest in adopting Mormon doctrine I think you probably just felt like fighting today.I had posted that quote in response to something on a different thread. After reading it again it shocked me that someone would say that there were things for which the blood of Christ could not atone for.
Yes, I have no interest in accepting Mormon doctrine, that doesn't mean I shouldn't post stuff to them in order to get their view does it? And if what I posted helps to open one person's eyes to the reality of Mormonism then that's all the better.
BTW, if you look through the thread I linked to I don't think you will see me fighting anywhere on it. And yet this is the thread the mod chose to tell me I was being derisive on.

Well the other day Cambell Brown (you know her, the newswoman) was interviewing the doctor that wrote the SBD...he was showing her all the different foods you could eat and she saw a chicken salad or something with mayo and said "Oh, and you can even have a little mayo!"
I literally shouted at the TV "No, you pinched-nosed flake! You can have the whole bottle! Do your homework before getting up there and making an ass of your self and talking down to a doctor!"
She gets on my nerves in the worst way...
