Sounds like you like Siameses! :) On the Himalayan, I think mine was either Himalayan or Burmese--he was acquired as a stray, so I had to try to figure out what he was. He had blue eyes like a Himalayan and was colored somewhat like this:

I agree on not removing the claws if possible.

I sleep sitting up too, but that's a different story altogether. As for buckwheat pillows, they are great. They are sorta soft, and mold to your contour. Really good for those with feather allergies, though you don't have to worry 'bout that :p I gave my dad some mini pillows when he was having aches in his back. He would heat them up in the microwave and they retained heat very well. Don't know what happened to them, and have looked but not found any smaller pillows on sale. Wish I had one.

Lumps on cats are not exactly something most people wanna think about, let alone discuss. ;-)

Yeah, but I am ~really~ weird! LOL!

Golf ball is a good-sized lump. If it gets in the way of petting her, you could take it off. If you can handle the lump being there, then prolly so can the cat. The anesthesia is going to be the most expensive part of the deal, so while she is under, maybe clean her teeth and deep clean her ears for not a lot more money.

One of my buddies had a lump like that taken out of his throat, one the size of a grapefruit. Ever since, he has always had a hugh scar all the way around his neck, almost.

Whenever I introduce him, I usually say that a shark had his head in its mouth, but spit him out. Not sure if anyone believes this, though.

Feeling better today?

I seem to be over the hump, but still recovering. Sore throat is better and stuffiness is starting to drain, but still weak with low appetite, plus my sleep schedule is screwed up now so that's also playing into it. But I think I'm about a good night's sleep away from getting over it. I managed to force myself to do a minor workout last night, though only about 10 minutes of very low-level activity. So I seem to be getting better, at least.

Thanks for asking :)

**Thomas Jefferson used to sleep at night sitting up, did you know?**

Wonder why?

Lots of people do, but usually for a reason. I've taken care of lots of people...all smokers...that couldn't breath unless that sat bolt upright to sleep.

I took care of a guy that had such bad emphysema that he sat straight up and laid his head down on a tray table in front of him...with it WAY up. He died that way, sitting straight up.

Afterward, I went in and straightened his room, cleaned it all out of all the IV poles and such, laid him down in the bed, combed his hair, and made his bed look really nice and smooth while the family waited in the hall. When they came in, the daughter just gasped, then burst into tears...threw her arms around my neck! Said she couldn't remember the last time he laid flat down and that it was the most peaceful she'd ever seen him!

Left a major impression on me, I can tell ya.

I sleep sitting up too, but that's a different story altogether.

I've seen old colonial-era beds that were designed to let people sleep sitting up--I guess that used to be popular? I tend to like to have my feet elevated myself, though I think sitting up might be good for my sinuses.

All of mine have purty blue eyes and are seal point.

That one looks like maybe a blue point? Pretty. I'd love to have a blue point someday...though that would be breaking my two cat rule again. Seriously, I think full Siamese probably do best in pairs - they want to play alllll the time, and he just wears Halvah out! Last night he was doing his usual teasing to try to get her to play, and she finally went off on him and smacked him and hissed. Serves him right, I guess, but he just wants to play, poor guy! Permanant kitten-hood...that's Siamese personality.

The main problems I have with removing claws are that a) it's their main form of defense, and b) though most people don't realize it, it's major surgery - they actually remove the first joint of each toe. Amputation - ouch! Lot of potential for infection and who knows what else. Makes me sick just thinking about it. I suppose I'm overreacting, but...eeeeh.

Don't know why he did.

Here's his bed, which is too short to lie down in.

Sounds like a good idea. I know she could especially use the teeth cleaning, being an older cat who didn't get a lot of vet care over the years.

I'll discuss this with the vet if and when I decide to have it done!

It's on her belly (well, just north of there), so not so much in the WAY when I pet her, but obvious...and has been making me vey nervous. I feel better now that you've mentioned your pets having similar problems. Phew!

I believe you're right that that one is a blue point (the page it's from is titled "Blue Purr-suasion") :) That's not an actual picture of my cat, though--I have a picture but unfortunately I don't think your browser is able to view it if I scan it in. I believe my cat was seal-point--he looked sorta like this but cuter, with a rounder face and not quite as droopy as this cat:

He used to have a playmate at first, but it was another species of cat and tended to dominate him. He was very gentle and not inclined to fight and seemed to feel more relaxed when he was the only cat. Plus I think he liked being the only center of attention :)

I think the cats would contend that you're not overreacting on the claws :) They don't like having them removed at all. But if you leave 'em in you do gotta watch 'em! One of our cats growing up was feisty and could easily go from play to wanting-to-be-left-alone aggressive. My brother played rough with him, which he usually liked but sometimes if you caught him in the wrong mood he was unpredictable. One time my brother picked him up and all of a sudden he hauled off and whacked my brother with his paw so loud you could hear a "smack" across the room. Fortunately he was declawed--if he hadn't been, ouch!
