Ted looked that way, because he hadn't had a drink in the last 30 minutes. For him it was like being on the wagon

It's not "the finger" but it is a
gesture that means the same.

You are being narrow in your views, kid
To: weegee
Its pretty clear that is not a gesture Kennedy was trying to extend. He was simply moving around or resting his head on his hand, scratching, etc. I do it all the time

So what. The link still shows Kennedy's discontent of even being in that room having to listen to President Bush's speech. Those pictures speak many words of his disrespect for Presdient Bush.
If the Admin Mods think it's misleading, they would pull it. Lighten up!
To: freekitty
WOW, well its not a factual thread so whos being narrow....

That isn't being narrow in one's views, that is simply not accepting bullcrap, which is unfortunately frequent here on FR. Just like the extreme pro-Israel Brownshirts...I mean...crowd... that frequents and censors on here.

THE TITLE WAS JUST CHANGED THANKYOU VERY MUCH. I have no problem with the truth about the swimmers behavior however he did not give anyone the finger.

You are just afraid to admit that Teddy Kennedy intended to insult the President.
Go watch the entire Media Pool tape and see all the frowns and grimaces that Teddy K. made.
If you were to be honest with yourself about this point, you'd clearly understand that those "hand signalsd" are intentional insults.

Ted Kennedy lives to insult our President however pretending that he did something in public that he didn't is just pathetic. We have enough evidence of Teddy insulting conservatism to resort to making up crap.

No, I watched the entire speech. I don't like Kennedy anymore than you do. And yes I saw how displeased he was. But shaking your head in disagreement is completely different than giving someone the middle finger or insulting someone with a hand gesture, which clearly was not the same as what he was doing with his fist.

Since you are making comments without getting all the facts, your viewpoint lacks veracity because it is not fully informed.
Please read this link here:
http://www.loyola.edu/communication/cagliweb/2003/people_stories/kfhandgestures.html Ted Kennedy certainly knows that those hand signals are viewed by many as insulting.
If you can't see that, even after looking at the still photos, then I don;t know what to tell you.
