why anyone would want to marry the "women" that this society has produced is beyond me. Better to just fire to your wallet and your self respect.

Hey- watch it! Not all of us are like that!

And Roberto Benigni summed it all up in the title to one of his Italian films - 'Life is Beautiful.' Truly, I think it is.,

Your post reminded me how much I love that movie. I have to go watch it again!

Now there's a real man. He won his woman, looked after his son, never whined about his problems, made the best out of his grim situation, and in the end died for his family.

Oh great, now I'm gonna cry!

Wonderful movie, wonderful character, wonderful actor, and wonderful gentleman, best as I have heard.

I am a huge Benigni fan and had been for years. I am so glad the 'US film industry suits' didn't get to him and talked him into making movies in the USA fulltime! Most my fave international movie guys (John Woo, Jackie Chan, Chow Yun Fat, and others) who come over to the states end up royally stinking!

I hailed the film when it came out for the reasons you mention. In fact, I blow people away when I tell them that to me, the single most heroic film character of the 1990s is the dad in 'Life is Beautiful.' By far. What his character has to go through is astonishing.

That film is amazing - it walks through a minefield unscathed. Jokes about children in gas chambers? Who can make that work?

Jerry Lewis couldn't. Roberto Benigni did. Lungo vivo Roberto Benigni! (I'm italian, what can I say, I am proud of him!)

Lungo vivo Roberto Benigni!

I'm not sure I know what this means, but I'm sure I agree! ( I'm a tad ashamed to admit it, but I studied French-er-"Freedom" as my 2nd language...)

From all accounts I have heard of him, he was a real man on and off the screen. Did you know that the woman who plays his wife in LIB is indeed his true wife? Now that is romantic!

Did you ever see his Pinocchio?

'Lungo vivo Roberto Benigni!' means 'Long Live Roberto Benigni!'

I am a huge fan of Benigni's. I missed Pinnochio, it was barely in theaters. If you wanna laugh, go rent or buy 'Il Mostro - The Monster.' VERY funny and stars the lovely and talented woman who is also his wife.

Enjoy!

The Philippined and Philippino people are great, very nice, both men and women. But you must 'sing' - literally, and married to a Philippino, I am sure you know what I mean.

Yes, I need a kereoke machine. Actually I am still courting her, but I am sure marriage is in the future, and she is a doll, several decades younger too. And, yes we know the wife is the boss, but as the article says, as long as she lets me think I am, I adore her for it. My only regret is, that I did not go to the Philippines 20 years ago for a born again Christian wife. But then again, if I had, she would have been in diapers, so I am glad I waited for her to grow up.
