Dave Matthews can't sing? I'm not sure how to process that comment... politics aside, the guy has chops and his band is easily one of the most talented groups of musicians assembled and currently making pop music. I don't particularly care for his music, or his politics for that matter, but I am going to draw the line at saying the guy can't sing... because he definitely can.

We were laughing because it sounded like some mental patient receiting the vowels "eee ooo derrr iii yoo aaa ee dooo" I think we got one or two words, but the rest, forget it. And you know what? The guy over the radio(wnew in New York) got the fax and said he didn`t know, said it over the air! Quite frankly, the dude sings like a retard, and speaking of frankly, Frank Sinatra once said "If the audience can`t understand the words your singing, then you ain`t singing baby." Which for me, is right. Why write lyrics at all?

Good redaction. Let the other sites be the foul mouths. FR is above that.

I can't understand a word being said at an Opera, but that doesn't that some serious singing isn't going on.

Wow Dave Matthews just became an American citizen I think. I guess he's now a member of the Peter Jennings new Americans lefty club. DM's political beliefs make me want to be that America got South Africa's sloppy seconds, but I still like his music.

I can't understand a word being said at an Opera, but that doesn't that some serious singing isn't going on. If you understood Italian, you would understand every word an opera singer sings (that`s if the Opera is in Italian) But most who don`t understand Italian don`t care because the Opera is usually written with beautiful melodies, much like a flute would play Mozart. There are no words but the melody carries the song. This Dave Matthews has never written a great melody in his life, it`s all mumbling idiocy. But that really wouldn`t matter if people were just listening for the words, much like people listened to early Bob Dylan before Bob fried his brains out and became another mumbling idiot, but with Dave, you can`t understand his words, and his melodies are absolute grade A garbage. My 3 year old niece could write a better tune on her toy piano in 15 minutes than this moron could write in a year. I mean who are we kidding here? So bad melody plus no lyrics equals sh*t my friend. It`s like listening to my neighbor fart on the toilet, I`d rather take a pass on that. Dave Matthews is an over-rated moron, a moron who should be 'singing' in old age homes for the deaf, and a moron who proves his IQ in lyric writing more with his take on politics. I heard that song "Guilty as charged" (or whatever you call it) tonight, and that crap has to be the most retarded sounding song I`ve ever heard in my life.."Guilty as charged" DUUUH! The guys a freggin` moron who can`t sing because he ain`t got the nuts to let himself sing, he`s a coward who hides behind tics and noises much like rappers make pretend they have cerebral palsy with their hands to show people that they are not a threat yet curse out people and run away at every opportunity. It`s a cowards game, it`s the music of liberals and small minded people. The best singers are the ones who got the guts, the passion to get a message across, Sinatra, Lennon, ELvis. Dave Matthews is a two bit phony and if it was up to me, I`d get that guy from the Apollo to kick his ass all over and off the stage.

ever notice that the vile lines these people spew seem to come out of somebody else's playbook? The regurgitate all these accusations but have no examples to back up what they say.
Dave... you're an idiot. Come back when you have something to say.
And why do these "journalists" allow these pampered babies to make such statements without explanations?

Rolling Stone in the late 70's and early 80's had some very decent writers.
Tim Cahill wrote one of the best pieces of the crucifixion of Christ that I had ever seen. My father, who was an attorney and a very conservative man, thought that Cahill's piece was one of the better ones he had read.
Cahill also predicted that Mt. St. Helen would blow a month before it did. (He'd been there in March and reported on it in the April issue. 4/80) Mt. St. Helens blew on May 18, 1980.
I think Cahill started Outside Magazine.

First of all, you dare berate the mighty Bob Dylan? You blasphemer! You had best go ask the music gods for forgiveness or at least ask if they will give you a brief reprieve from their torment long enough to shoot the ocassional post up here on the ol' Freep-site. Secondly, art though a frustrated musician who is jealous of Dave Matthews and his lack of talent? Look, metalboy, Pop music isn't about talent... the people that buy these albums are all morons, you and I know that, but Dave Matthews is doing something right... whether you like it or not, you've got to admit he is doing something right

What??? What`s this all about?? Oh, I see, my rant on Dave "Bush is Evil" Matthews. Well, if you are saying he is doing something right because people buy his records and see him in concert, then be prepared to say that about Hitlery and Bubba Clinton or Stalin or Hitler. Like today, France thinks Saddam is God, thinks rape is cool by their worship of Bill Clinton, but that doesn`t mean they`re not scum bags.

I don't mean "right" morally. I mean "right" as in he has put together the "right" package that appeals to listeners. Jeez... calm down ther tough guy
