more

autumn rains
rebuke the night
in reflections
dripped like votive
wax from the halo
of the street light
upon the last leaves
made bright
and polished;
the armor of a
dying season

then is history
recorded
in the final glow
of colour which is
not result
but reason.

warm to the touch
that shapes
the stone that waits

Ooooh! So very nice, Kay! I love peeking in here and seeing new things to sigh over. Thanks!

i'm struck
by the arrogance
of european clocks
that routinely chime
the symbols
of baroque
time
without
rhythm
or remorse

syntax
is the virtue
of a vow

semantics
is just
politics
and punctuation

i wrote her
lyrics
about tigers
and temples
enshrined in
templates of gold
taken back
by a nature
that surrounds
but doesn't
surrender

being surrounded
rendered her surrendered
overcome and over-won
she relented and consented
to be so loved
consumed by prolific
life-vines
life lines
for one lost
in the undergrowth tangle
of time and tasks...
temple-tigers
watch dispassionately
disinterested
and disinclined to
pursue such a morsel
content to pant and purr
and leave the lost soul
to find her way out

collegiality
allows
specter
to be picked
least qualified
but most
insulated
in a battle
of tenure
temerity
and acceptability

Blue state condomnation

blue state blues
have me feeling quite witty
for their angst i can summon no pity
they find all conservatives
ignorant, so undeservative
of consideration
for our lifestyle alternative.

So it's sad but really it seems
that reddies are viewed
as some vile disease
with views communicable
seductive, and attractive
they must be silenced
before becoming
intellectually active.

So it seems that we are thought such fools
to have ideas and ideals so uncool
the blue states might be appeased
to have us all declared STDs
but then they'd have to teach
their kids all about us in school

She mentally listed the things he needed.
Like a good hausfrau with a heavy heart,
she packed his life into neat little
traveling squares
of canvas and cares...

she knew better than he
what was needed for the journey
letting him insist some contrary reality
smiling while he spoke sternly
not afraid to let him speak his mind
as long as he let her control his heart...

a kiss for the long separation
a knowing look
a pretended grand levity--
gracious in grieving heaviness
she laughs and sighs in turns
determines that tears are a woman's
unfair arsenal,
for what infernal device born of men's imagination
can withstand that weapon of mass instruction?

besides, she cannot let him stay
or beg him stay
for either way, should he remain
with her he'd without those necessary things
he never brings when he is in her arms

so nice. lovely. and here is one I wrote on a long road trip just gladly ended.

Tapestry

So… the word
between somewhere and
solitude, a greeting
or serving for the last sound
that we have for each other,

an efficient strand
that creates one idea
for beginning and ending
and the possibilities that
weave like the touch

of remorse upon our own
unrepentant skin,
that will ache to feel
the inevitability of departure

since the destination has been
booked, and we have dressed
in the serviceable fibers
of our traveling clothes again.

and so turns around us,
the silk that binds us each
to silence and surrounds
the memory of where
the process began and
the dyes of interpretation

were absorbed so bright
in the thread
we made together
in anticipation of a time
when the string unwinds
and so leaves us to

destiny in other designs,

i'm tired
ready to part
with the art
of androgynous
sexless symbols
and embrace
a different
accommodation
of canvas
arranged
to my liking
