It may have been "Careful with that ax Eugene." BUT my sister clearly yelled the other in my face. And that's why I am the way I am :P
I think what happened with rock is that everyone became "artists" rather than rockers. I generally like music that is funny, ironic, or smart but always with a great hook.
Best hooks in rock:
My Sharona Knack
Stone In Love Journey
Feel Your Love Tonight Van Halen
I Know A Little Skynard

I prefer to say there is no Van Halen without Eddie, but Sammy Hagar is NO David Lee Roth. Diamond Dave rocks!

oh man...do I have memories of that song!!!! it was the summer before my jr yr of of high school and I was taking drivers ed with a friend, her sisters boyfriend used to drive us to drivers ed class ....he had a 68 or 68 cutlass with airshocks in the back, a foot shaped gas pedal and a crankin' 8track player......and he would always play Wango Tango as loud as possible, windows down.....one time he peeled into the parking lot of the school, Wango Tango blairing and when we got out our intructor yelled to us "GIRLS!!! That is exactly how NOT to drive!!!!!"
ahhh...the glorious results of a misspent youth! LOL!!!

Dave's a fruit. Was not at all sad to see him go after he started dressing and acting more like Elton John than a straight up a rocker.

Well you know what they say about opinions. And you are definitely entitled to yours.

she used to look at me with crazed eyes and yell. "Watch out for that ax Eugene," I always preferred running around screaming "One of these days I'm going to cut you into little pieces!"
To: L.N. Smithee
Roth never sang. He shrieked. He howled. He wailed. But he never once sang. Perhaps, but at least he entertained.

Red! I want red, there's no substitute for red.
This thread is making me weep for the early 80s. Reagan in the White House, hanging out at Uncle Charlies in Mill Valley, and keggers and bonfires at Fort Cronkite. Where did my youth go?
To: Slings and Arrows
No Steve Perry No Journey.

You mean Diamond Dave rocked about 25 years ago, until he became a walking cliche. You DLR fans want the DLR of many years ago, he ain't coming back. I think Eddie and Alex should have tried to start something new without the baggage and expectations that come along with using the VH-moniker. Now they are demoted to being just another nostalgia band.

It was his first solo album, "Crazy From the Heat."
I was in a helicopter squadron, and we recorded a (very off-color) parody called "Just a Rotorhead."

Van Halen's video "Dreams", featuring the Blue Angels, is the best video of all time. That song kept me sane as I transitioned to civilian life.

"No Steve Perry No Journey."
Actually, Journey was Journey before Steve Perry. I miss Greg Rolle's contributions.
