Flash Flood Warning as powerful Arizona monsoon storms triggered dangerous flash flooding across Prescott Valley and Chino Valley, submerging roads, stranding vehicles, and causing emergency rescues.
Heavy rain, strong winds, dust storms, and widespread power outages damaged infrastructure and severely disrupted travel.
Officials urged residents to monitor Flood Watch alerts and avoid flooded roads as recovery efforts continued.

Wow. Looks like the White Mountains are getting hammered. I lived up in Pinetop for a half-year many moons ago. Loved it up there.
We just got a decent wet-down west of Tucson. No washes running right around here. It’ll come, though. The road out front hasn’t become a river for at least a year now, but I expect it will before the monsoon is done.

This is typical of arid climates. Nothing for months and then bad enough to choke a frog. Is also why there is so little soil.
We are in Mesa. The storm here was hardly spectacular. We would get worse half a dozen times a year in summer in northern Illinois. It just seems worse because the wind blows up sand, and the street drainage is poor.
How much did you get in Dewey?
I was watching WeatherBug and Granville, Viewpoint, and Unit 19 got the brunt of the monsoon.
The floating shipping container was amazing. The owner of Yavapai Mechanical commented they have tools and equipment inside.

We are also in Mesa! We got some decent rain, not nearly as much as last Monday, but the wind was insane. I was fetching trash, tree branches, and pool chairs out of the pool this morning.

In the 1990’s I was in Deer Valley at the Airport and a Full On Hurricane all but Destroyed My Boss’s Executive Office.
Busted out several North Eastern windows and Trashed the Drop Ceiling! The Antique Oak Desk wasn’t Touched.

For 6 months or more the weather predictions have been abnormally heavy rain in the west coast and rockies.
In Genesis Joseph taught us when we have plenty, save the excess for the dry period that follows. It will be interesting how many western states know and practice what civilization has known for 3800 years.
Or will the western states say it is not their responsibility to prepare for what is predicted by their scientists and that the states not impacted are responsible for the wet and dry periods in the western states?
these are all areas with major water shortages projected for the future.
One would hope that every drop of that monsoon water get’s conserved locally.
I wish the weather liars would stop with the fear weather. It’s seasonal, thank God we have seasonal weather.
Here in Texas we are praying the tropical storm builds and comes ashore at Galveston. Houston badly needs a bath and central Texans would love the July rain.

doesn’t sound like you know much about the southwest.
If you want to see 1930’s science fiction —go out to hoover dam in arizona. then drive up to lake powell. these are the two major dams on the colorado river. All over arizona there are dams.
There is also a nascent movement to capture more water as it falls on cities and mountains all over the state.
But it is still not enough because the success of arizona draws in more people and industry who require more water.
To your point, Arizona is pretty good. But they’re not as good as Israel at managing water. But Israel and maybe Singapore are the best in the world at managing water. The Saudis are getting pretty good too.
Nearly all of the water will filter down to the aquifer eventually.
Just another normal Arizona Monsoon day. The past few years we have had a “dry” Monsoon.
