The promise of stable, high-wage industrial jobs drew Arab immigrants to Detroit and Dearborn starting in the 1910s and 1920sAnd they were overwhelmingly Christian. The Muslims did not arrive until much later. That is one of the reasons why Lebanon was a formerly majority Christian country, many of them left the country and now they live in the U.S.
Lebanese Christians are far less problematic than any other Arab group. Not being Muslims is already a large benefit when it comes to assimilation, but on top of that, many of them tended to become prosperous businessmen or skilled tradesmen, in sharp contrast to the slum Muslim Arabs that you get in the outskirts of Paris, Brussels, etc.
I've found that Americans of Lebanese Christian descent are culturally more like Greek Americans or other southeast Europeans than like their fellow Arabs in their attitude and mindset.
