On Monday, I wrote about Spanish Socialist Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez’s decision to block the U.S. from using jointly operated military bases on its territory for strikes on Iran. President Donald Trump wasted no time responding forcefully, saying Tuesday that the U.S. is "going to cut off all trade with Spain."
Trump made the comments from the White House during a meeting with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz. He noted that some European nations have been helpful to the U.S. regarding Iran, saying Germany has been “great.” He also praised NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, calling him “fantastic.” Then he spoke directly about Spain:
Spain has been terrible. In fact I told Scott [likely Secretary of the Treasury Scott Bessent] to cut off all dealings with Spain. First of all, it started when every European nation at my request paid 5% which they should be doing, and everybody was enthusiastic about it, Germany, everybody, and Spain didn't do it. And now Spain actually said that we can't use their bases. That's alright, we can use their base if we want. We can just fly in and use it; nobody's gonna tell us not to use it. But we don't have to. But they were unfriendly. ... Spain has absolutely nothing that we need, other than great people. They have great people. But they don't have great leadership. ... So we're going to cut off all trade with Spain. We don't want anything to do with Spain.

The Spanish communists won’t learn their lesson before they destroy their country.
Bravo. The world should take note: play ball with us, or be escorted off the field.
I wonder if Trump is using IEEPA to do that, since SCOTUS basically said “regulate trade” in the IEEPA meant block trade but not apply tariffs to trade.
“Spain has absolutely nothing that we need”
And that’s what these Euroweenies just don’t seem to understand.
Spain is pretty USELESS as an ally. The first sign of terrorism in the country and they back out meekly. During Operation Iraqi Freedom, Islamist terrorists bombed Madrid’s metro system. After that, they quickly hightailed out of Iraq and left the coalition.
The old Spain that conquered the Philippines and South America no longer exists
They will respect his authoritay! (and they will).
Have the socialist Hispanic leaders in Spain run out of OhPeeM yet?

So if we cut off Spain, what does that leave us on the short end of?
Olives? Sangria Wine? Spanish Rice (OK, that’s a stretch).
Not just that they are ‘commies’... They have submitted to the ‘Moors’ once again. And no ‘Peter I of Aragon and Pampalona’ to save Spain, this time.
We already have Spain’s mesquites, so there’s that.
Their PM Sánchez has consistently been hostile to actions taken by Israel and the United States, especially when the two countries confront the worst dictatorships and terror groups in the world.
He criticized the U.S. operation to capture Venezuelan dictator Nicolás Maduro in January and has claimed that Israel committed genocide in Gaza. He also opposed the U.S.-Israeli joint strikes on Iran, saying: “We reject the unilateral military action by the United States and Israel, which represents an escalation and contributes to a more uncertain and hostile international order.”
In September 2025, after Sánchez’s government limited access to Spanish ports and airspace to ships and planes carrying weapons for Israel, Trump’s State Department minced no words. A State Department spokesperson said, “It is deeply concerning that Spain, a NATO member, has chosen to potentially limit US operations and to turn its back on Israel on the same day six individuals were killed in Jerusalem. These measures embolden terrorists.”
In October 2025, Trump suggested that Spain be expelled from NATO for not increasing its defense spending to 5%.
A member NATO country refuses to assist a fellow member nation. On top of that, last summer, Spain rejected the increase to 5% of their GDP to fund their own defense, so NATO agreed to allow this half-assed country, half-rate membership.
Spain has hated us since Teddy charged up San Juan Hill. Most of the people don’t like Americans as well. Effem.
Spain is no different than the democratic party in this regards.
So the principle here is that we will only trade with countries who support our military operations when requested?
Haven’t been worth a lick since their Armada was sunk by the British.
Spaniards are too busy torturing animals to bother with saving women and children from horrific violence.
