Very rarely do silent films stand the test of time, but in this case, another classic turned 100 years old. Lon Chaney stars in the original film adaptation of “The Phantom of the Opera”.

Back at GA Southern, one of our professors did an in-house arrangement of Phantom of the Opera for the marching band. It was really good.

We taped little photos of Lon Chaney as the Phantom on our tubas, just for fun.

I well remember seeing this film several times on TV in the late 1950s. Back then, broadcast stations would often show silent films from the 1920s, after all many of those films were only 30 years old back then.
