Isn’t there a law that prevents a person from profiting when breaking the laws?
Seems to me that is the case for any illegal immigrant.

What happens if the county consents? Can the Feds appeal? Can the citizens appeal? Do they have standing?

Illegal alien invaders have no rights under the U.S. Constitution.

Constitutional rights? Say what?

It would seem to me that the county would appeal to the federal level. I doubt the Supreme Court would say you can suffer financially for enforcing federal law.

The county can recoup every penny these illegal alien invaders have cost the county residents. Every penny.
Start with tuition for the schoolkids for every year they've been in school. Apportion the costs of police, fire, and public works.
The number would be in the billions.

A judge orders his fellow citizens to pay up. Sort of like “taxation without representation”. Our Founders would be reaching for their muskets

If they are in fact aliens here illegally, the only ‘right’ they have is to a speedy deportation.

Seriously, what are the Constitutional rights of illegals? I thought the Constitution protected the rights of its citizens, not people who broke the law getting here.

So, it looks like these hundreds of illegals, in addition to entering the country illegally or overstaying their visas, ALSO broke other laws for which they were arrested.
But local authorities also detained them on behalf of ICE. And this is supposedly a violation of their constitutional rights.
And a jury (of their peers I presume) awarded them each a six-figure payout funded by tax payers.
I hope this is appealed and overturned.
America has the most powerful military in the world, but we are not doing so well fighting the enemy within.

As someone put it before, the constitution is not a suicide pact.
