NSSF NICS Report October 2025
NSSF NICS Report October 2025 During the 26-year record of NICS numbers, all Octobers except October 2021 show a higher number of NICS background checks than they do for September of the same year. Makes me wonder how many firearms the citizens have.
It is in the neighborhood of 500 million and growing.
Over 240 million added in the last 20 years.
Sounds about right. A few may be worn out or destroyed but far more are made and sold each year. In general, firearms remain serviceable for generations.
Yes. Some are destroyed. Some are lost. Some wear out. Some are illegally exported.
On the other side:
Some are homemade and not counted.
Military arms, originally sold to the military, the transferred to civilians, by various mechanisms, are not counted. (several million were sold surplus in the USA)
Guns illegally imported are not counted.
Because these numbers are so difficult to know, the assumption is they off set one another.
