Just for some context, the country is religiously divided approximately in half with slightly over 50% Muslim and slightly less than 50% adhering to some form of Christianity. But the two groups are largely divided geographically with most of the Muslims living in the north and most of the Christians occupying the southern half.
For the most part, the Christians being killed and persecuted reside in Christian communities located among the Muslim dominated communities of the north. As is typical we see Muslims demonstrating their inability to live peacefully with non-Muslim minority groups in their midst. And people wonder why it was necessary to form two separate nations in the region of British-controlled Palestine once Britain relinquished control.
It seems nations do better the closer to zero the Muslim population is.
