U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean P. Duffy has announced the return of the newly restored “Christ on the Water” painting to its place of prominence at the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy (USMMA). The historic artwork, which had been relocated to the basement of the Academy’s chapel in 2023, was unveiled during a ceremony in Wiley Hall with Academy leadership and midshipmen in attendance.

Who was President of the United States in 2023
That would be Xiden the chicom usurper if you believe the fake news lamestream media.
Hanging a religious painting of spiritual protection in danger may be a comfort to religious cadets. It can also be viewed as a common piece of art by those who are not religious. After all, religious art fills museums. But I see no way such a painting can be considered forced religion.

Eternal Father, strong to save,
Whose arm does bind the restless wave,
Who bids the mighty ocean deep
Its own appointed limits keep;
O hear us when we cry to Thee
For those in peril on the sea.
Wow, very nice! Thanks for posting that pic.

It’s a beautiful and strong hymn. It must have frequently been a comfort to men in danger.
My late father, a graduate of Kings Point, would be delighted by this news — as I am.
Go to Italy........ masterpieces of Renaissance art are found in churches.
Italian Renaissance painters frequently painted large-scale frescos and altarpieces for religious patrons, including wealthy clerics, the Catholic Church, and other private citizens, who commissioned artworks to adorn and glorify their churches, chapels, and altars.
These commissions provided artists with work and allowed patrons to display their piety and wealth, often incorporating portraits of themselves and their families into biblical scenes to commemorate their association with the divine.
The Four Chaplains were four U.S. Army chaplains—George L. Fox (Methodist), Alexander D. Goode (Jewish), John P. Washington (Roman Catholic), and Clark V. Poling (Dutch Reformed)—who sacrificed their lives on February 3, 1943, when the troopship USAT Dorchester was torpedoed and sank in the North Atlantic. As the ship went down, the chaplains gave their own life jackets to soldiers and were last seen linking arms and praying for the men. Their act of self-sacrifice, transcending their different faiths, has become a symbol of courage, grace, and unity in the face of death

THAT GOLD FRAMED PIC IS ONE OF THE BEST TROLLS TRUMP HAS EVER DONE
"For nearly 80 years, the painting hung in the Elliot M. See Room of Wiley Hall before being relocated in 2023 following a complaint suggesting it violated the Establishment Clause of the First Amendment."
Seriously, the painting hung there for so many years, and in all that time did it threaten the "no-establishment clause" of the Constitution or establish Christianity as the State religion? What harm did it do? The people that complained about it were idiots, as were the authorities that had it removed.
Make it fair and hang a painting of mohammed. That should please the muzzies to no end.
I still have a 78 rpm record in the attic from childhood in the 50’s with all the military hymns. Would play it over and over again, and The Navy Hymn was an especial favorite. We really enjoyed patriotism in those days and held the military in great respect.
The Navy Hymn has a special place for every Navy in the English speaking world.
