Maybe. Not that many places in the Far East I want to visit, even if I could afford a lot of foreign travel.

Tonight’s news reports were full of the imfotmation that last year we had 30,000 deaths caused by wildfire smoke and lung problems. It was particularly deadly where there was also air pollution caused by vehicle air pollution. It will definitely be getting worse the reports said.

Not only trees.

CO2 is not a pollutant, it is a plant growth stimulant. Included in that is food crops. It makes food easier to grow and thus less expensive. Conversely, their actions would make food more expensive.

Why do these monsters wish to starve the poor?

Something changed dramatically in recent decades. In the post World War II period there was a lot of effort into getting Americans the ability to own a home. Government backed long term low interest rate mortgages. Technology made our lives easier, with more time for leisure. Better health care. Norman Borlaug and food scientists developed cultivars for feeding the world. Better crop production, inexpensive electricity benefitting everyone, including business.

Then like a light switch starting particularly in the 1970s it was All Gloom and Doom All The Time. It just keeps getting worse.

Outlaw gasoline, diesel, natural gas. No nukes. Eat Bugs. Anti-family, anti-human. It’s really almost demonic.

I call it the rise of the Mediacracy. The Media had been taken over by Progressives (American leftists). They took over the journalism schools. Once they found they had the power, through Television, to get rid of a Senator (McCarthy) then to drive a very popular president (Nixon) from office, they became the dominant political force.

They were internationalists who saw nationalism as evil and the source of war, and leftists who saw government as an unlimited source of good.

Because Australians didn’t slaughter the police who forced them into Covid camps.

"I wouldn’t have any EV if it was given to me. Totally useless unless you’re golfing."

Exactly the way I thought until I rode in a friend's Tesla a few weeks ago. The sound system and entertainment system was so good that we hardly noticed the time at the charger.

I was particularly impressed with how safe a driver it was in self-driving mode. It detected a vehicle slowing three football field ahead of us and slowed down, and had no trouble dealing with three bicyclists that crossed our path as we turned onto a highway.

This coming from the owner of two old, gas-guzzling Expeditions - which I personally would not trade for his EV for a number of other reasons.

Unfortunately it seems Poison Ivy really loves CO2. I never saw such robust PI 70 years ago, and since allergic I have been watching it carefully all these years.

I’d never ride in a self driving car period. I don’t trust or need all the cameras, technology and crap that comes with most of the new vehicles, it’s more distraction than anything.

The government says don’t text and drive but cars have their own wifi hot spots and you can watch movies while driving then these asinine infotainment systems won’t let you make some changes on a GPS map while you’re driving.

I’d rather be getting 9mpg in a loud gas guzzler any day.

Well, I've felt infinitely less save with certain drivers than I did the other day in my friend's Tesla. In fact, I found myself wishing that my sons got EVs so they'd be safer (which means, of course, that they'll do *anything* but get an EV).

But, like you, it's gas guzzlers for me.
