Van Hollen was the keynoter at the traditional Polk County Democrats Steak Fry at Water Works Park in Des Moines. Probably couldn’t get a bigger name.

Iowa Democrats no longer vote first and don’t determine their preferred candidate for president until late in the cycle, so it’s no longer an advantage for a Democrat to work Iowa early.
