I saw a video on Twitter about this. The comments were insane…there are so many people who are convinced slavery never occurred until Europeans started bringing them to the Americas.

“Muslims pretending that slavery was primarily a problem of the West while conveniently overlooking their own history.”
That’s pretty bold, given they still have slaves.
And regularly raided not just Africa, but Italy and basically everywhere along the Med for slaves.
And were the ones selling African slaves to Western nations.

One of the reasons he is having trouble is his overly broad claims, like "Britain ended slavery" and "there is no slavery in the West."
He may have done better to say things like,
"Slavery existed in every land and culture until Western nations ended legal slavery, first Britain in 1706 on its mainland, and the trade of slaves in 1833. "The U.S. had ended the importation of slaves in 1807, and emancipated all enslaved persons in 1863, fighting a bloody civil war to do so.
"Other Western nations followed along.
"At the present time, the fight to end illegal slavery is ongoing."
