No Quorum? No Problem

Texas Republicans are trying to update their Congressional map in a way that will provide fairer representation for Republicans. (Fairer, in any event, in the context of the gerrymandering for which Democrats have long been notorious.) Texas House Democrats have fled the state to prevent establishment of a quorum, and thus defeat the redistricting.

This is nothing new. Democrats did the same thing in Wisconsin a few years ago, and earlier this year in Minnesota. No doubt there are other instances. What is different this time is the Republicans’ response: “Greg Abbott Drops Bombshell on TX Dems Who Fled State: Return Today or Be Removed, Face Felony Charges.”

Texas Governor Greg Abbott issued a statement warning Democrats who fled the state to deny a quorum for his redistricting push that they have until precisely 3 p.m. Monday to return to their House duties or face removal from office.

Abbott, in his statement, cites a 2021 Attorney General opinion (KP-0382) that could let him petition a court to declare their seats vacant. On top of that, he’s dangling the sword of felony charges, alleging their fundraising to cover $500-a-day fines might violate bribery laws.

🚨BREAKING NEWS from TX Governor Greg Abbott:

“This truancy ends now. The derelict Democrat House members must return to Texas and be in attendance when the House reconvenes at 3:00 PM on Monday, August 4, 2025. For any member who fails to do so, I will invoke Texas Attorney… pic.twitter.com/lCg1LXSyum

What's that, like 3 hours until the gavel for the East Coast time.

How long until this is struck down in a leftist Texas court? Democrats always get their way... Always.

Yeah, and that makes me sick. For once, they need to taste their own medicine.

Great counter punch, Governor Abbott!

The Democrats are temporarily stunned when Republicans - like Trump - consequentially fight back.

Kind of cool...

Trump is almost 80, and Abbott is in a wheel chair.

The old guy and the paralyzed guy are leading the attack!

We’ve seen this SitCom before:

Texas law ‘explicitly’ gives House speaker authority to arrest fleeing Dems: Ted Cruz
The Democrats fled to Washington, D.C., in order to block a vote on a proposed election bill.

What could a court do?

Technically the issue here, is that the legislature is in session, and these Democrats are needed to provide a quorum of legislators to conduct business.

I’m not a lawyer or a liberal judge. But I question on what legal basis a judge would rule against the call for legislators to be present and do their job.

It’s time again for democRATs to denigrate/criticize people in wheelchairs.

President Trump has been winning a lot of cases—including some very important cases—in the Supreme Court this year.

It is the lower courts that are stuffed with leftist creep judges.

Governor Abbott needs to slap the democrats down a couple of times. If he can make one of the slap-downs stick, democrats will be less likely to show-out.

After Governor DeSantis tore up Disney's can a couple of times they quieted right down and resumed billions of dollars of investments in Florida.

Disney is still woke and will look for a chance to get even but right now they are not showing out. DeSantis told them point blank: “don't make me stop this car and come back there."

I don’t know, but I’m sick of dem judges coming up with ‘creatve’ ways to stall Trump’s agenda. Then it takes R’s forever to counter them. My post is more out of exasperation than anything else.

Is it not wonderful to witness how the “Democrats” use stunts like this to thwart the will of the people and majority rule?

Why can’t Republicans achieve a quorum without the Dems?

The rats gerrymandered my district in 2020. Moving my voting location 20 miles east in a small zero flashing light small town in an old schoolhouse built around 1900.
Its a central TX location and this was done after the fraudulent 2020 win.
I’m all in for redistricting to get my voting place back to where it had been for over 20 years.(small local church 5 miles away)
Damn rat bastards.

The courts are okay when Democrats gerrymander to the greatest extent possible. Just watch, some court will strike down Texas’ redistricting map or any other red state that tries to do what the Dems have already done.

They evidently flew out together on a big rental jet. Est cost is around $200,000.
We need to know who paid for it.
