“They are supposed to take that into consideration, and these are some of the things that the court will look at when they’re trying to determine whether or not there were problems with creating the maps

. It’s really awful.”

I don't personally see where the courts get the power to review redistricting maps.

Drawing redistricting maps is within the power of the state legislatures not the courts. How it is done is also within the power of legislatures.

Unless it can be shown that the legislature is FLAGRANTLY not following the laws as they are written the courts the courts should stay out ofit.

If the legislature is abusively disregarding the current law the courts should only direct the legislature to correct the errors identified.

In no case should the courts ever take the step of drawing the maps.

And in most cases I would be just fine with the legislature ignoring the courts today, the courts having abused their own power so frequently lately.

As I recall the Pennsylvania Supreme Court gave the PA House an ultimatum to redraw the map and the PA. House told the court to get lost. The court then drew their own. Since when can courts make law?

If we didn’t have that stupid voting rights bill of 1965, the courts would not get involved. I wish they’d repeal that crap.
