I’m inclined to agree with you up to a point. SKILLED tradesmen (and women) either received their training in trade schools or received on-the-job training.

On the Job training is getting scarce because employers want people who can step right into a job with minimal training. Training people costs money, on the job or no.

My son works for an electrician. He has a degree in Accounting and has no interest in more school. He builds houses all day.

He was working in a development when the builder came by with his daughter. A coworker told him “You should ask her out. She’s hot and rich.”. My son said “Her last name is my middle name. We are cousins”. Oops.
