Minneapolis Mayoral Candidate Says Somalia Is His ‘Home’
The Federalist ^ | July 15, 2025 | Brianna Lyman

A candidate running for mayor of Minneapolis has called Somalia his “home” despite being born in America and running for American office.

Omar Fateh, a current Minnesota state senator and mayoral candidate, was born in Washington, D.C., to Somali immigrants. Yet, during his state Senate campaign, he repeatedly referred to Somalia as his “home.”

“I understand that our Somali communities are all connected to each other, here in Minnesota and back home, and I ask for your support. There’s always been a link between our community here as well as back home and I’m running to bridge that gap and unite all of us and represent all of us because when we succeed here, we succeed everywhere.”

Though Fateh was running for a state legislative seat — an office intended to serve the interests of Minnesotans — his comments framed his campaign as representing Somalians both locally and abroad. His perspective suggests a view of political stewardship that extends beyond American constituents alone.

That’s his constituents. He feels connected with them. Good for him for getting everything he could out of this. I mean, he has the media’s backing and enough votes before the election to put him over the top.

Anyway, my point is this. Throughout our country and our relationships with other countries, The Communist in the White House 94% of the time has the left wing media in his pocket. As we already know, whoever the Republican in the White House is, the media has already labeled him Hitler.

If the media did it’s job the way they are supposed to based on journalistic standards and ethics, there would have never been a Democrat party. All illegal aliens, corruption, targeted murders, you name it would have been fairly reported on and the people who gave you your First Amendment rights would trust you. Those criminal leftwing organizations would have been held accountable to the people. And Republicans who did the same thing, would also be held accountable.

If we want to place blame on the world, just place it on the AP and Reuters, with the US MSM ripping and reading what they write. That’s it. Call out the communists and criminals for what they are. We see who supports them and who doesn’t support them. And then we choose our candidate based on honest, and truthful reporting, just like the 1st Amendment intended.

My suggestion to start the ball rolling is use rule 12 of Alinsky’s Rules for Radicals. “Personalize, polarize, and freeze the target: Focus on specific individuals or entities to simplify the conflict and create clear divisions.” Pick a major sponsor to ABC and boycott them. Do it during The View. Do it a couple of more times to the same target. By the time the people are done with them, the other sponsors would have already pulled their ads.

They did that with Dubay even though he was docile. Didn't matter to them. He had the wrong party label. They stopped insulting him because he's an "useful idiot" now. But that won't be the case if he got on the Trump train.

They still will elect him. The amusing part will be when he wins and starts following Somalia-inspired policies on transgender rights.

He was born in the US but he pledges his loyalty to Somalia and his Somalian people.

The future of the US isn't looking very bright.

“...One has to ask - what good have Somali immigrants done for the USA?...”

NOTHING, other than what you mentioned, collect the nice, generous USA freebies and stir up a lot of BS and political crap.
Ask any ex-pat that’s worked in the oil/gas industry in the Middle East about Somalies. They’re the worst of the very worst. No other ME country wants anything to do with em or allows them to stay. In the oil/gas field, they’re used for menial tasks and basic labor, cannot be trusted for even a second, nasty to deal with, always argumentative, a rock has more intelligence, etc...the list is loonnngg.
Just this one deed alone of bringing this low-life scum/vermin to America, their mighty odongo should be rotting in a GITMO cell for the rest of his miserable life. Instead, we enriched the vile basstid beyond measure. Spit.

It is a society/culture that is totally stoned.
Go there some time in the middle of the day everything stops so they can smoke or chew Qat (a “pot-like” drug but supposed to be milder!). The euphoria is only supposed to last an hour or two but I don’t believe that! Anyway where ever you go they all have these vacant “no-one-is-home” look on their faces.

I agree with you. If a person is a citizen of another country then it creates a conflict of appearance to conflict of interest as in the context of an oath of office, “true faith and allegiance” means a steadfast and loyal commitment to the Constitution and the laws of the United States, without any mental reservations or attempts to evade one’s obligations. It signifies a sincere dedication to uphold the principles of the nation and fulfill the duties of the office. So his concern with another country, especially as a mayor of a midwestern city, can be compromised with his concern for another country.

A perfect example is LA mayor Bass and her overwhelming concern for being at a personal function in Ghana while she was away and her city lost millions and people in wildfires. She was not available to do her job. Asleep at the switch.

The U.S. provides significant foreign aid to Somalia, encompassing humanitarian assistance, security support, and development aid. In fiscal year 2024, over $1 billion was allocated, including substantial humanitarian aid, and security assistance for Somali and AU forces. U.S. aid aims to address food insecurity, conflict, and other challenges faced by the Somali population.

Key aspects of U.S. aid to Somalia:

Humanitarian Assistance:
The U.S. is a major donor of humanitarian aid to Somalia, providing support for food, nutrition, water, sanitation, hygiene, shelter, and health services. In 2021, USAID alone spent $369 million on various programs.

Security Assistance:
The U.S. provides security assistance to Somali forces and the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM). This includes training, equipment, and advising, with a focus on combating al-Shabaab and promoting stability.

Development Aid:
U.S. aid also supports development initiatives in Somalia, such as improving governance, promoting economic growth, and strengthening education and health systems.

Partnerships:
The U.S. works with various partners in Somalia, including the Somali government, international organizations (like the UN and World Food Programme), and non-governmental organizations (NGOs).

Recent Developments:
Increased Funding:
In recent years, the U.S. has increased its humanitarian assistance to Somalia, recognizing the worsening drought and humanitarian crisis.

Focus on Resilience:
U.S. aid also focuses on building resilience among vulnerable populations, helping them cope with recurring crises like drought.

Challenges:
Despite the significant aid, Somalia faces ongoing challenges, including food insecurity, conflict, and weak governance.

Overall, the U.S. remains committed to supporting Somalia’s development and addressing its humanitarian needs, while also working to counter terrorism and promote stability in the region.

Sound like he should marry Ilhan Omar and then they could run for Prez and Vice Prez ... and anyway probably win the top nominees for the Democratic ticket.
