It doesn’t “fry” the drones. It disables the electronics of the drone. I understand that there are relatively simple computers that run on the paths of fluid rather the paths of electrons. Could be developed as a guidance system for future drones. Why brag about something used in war?

Drones might use the high-speed shutters of obsolete film DSLR cameras so their electronics are only exposed for say 1/125th of a second.
