A 22 cal rifle bullet will work just fine, but that has a danger range of up to 1.5 miles, so you don’t just give them nilly-willy to kids and tell them to blast away.

I know you're not the momma, but that's exactly what my Momma told me to do after they ate her prized Confederate Roses.

Hell hath no fury like a Southern Momma gardener against critters that eat the stuff they grew!

Be careful what you shoot at. Most things here don’t react too well to bullets.

The fastest and most effective way of dealing with the problem is with PCP air rifles. I'm sure there is a club out there that would be more than willing to come in and lend a hand.

They could learn a lesson from Jessica, of Iguana Solutions on Youtube..........

My favorite PCP rifle is posted on my home page.

If they live under ground like gophers, they need to do what my buddies and I used to do. Get a couple buckets of water and pour it down their holes and they will come out gasping for air. Then you can catch them and do whatever you want with them.

I invented what I call “The Chipmunk Trap Of Death” in order to save my tomato patch.
I only caught one squirrel, but lots of chipmunks. Squirrels are
generally too smart for this trap. Which is fine because they do not bother
with tomatoes, and I no longer have peach trees or bother with trying
to grow corn, both of which squirrels DO wreak havoc upon. So I have
no beef with the squirrels any longer.

Chipmunks, however, steer clear of my yard if they know what’s good for ‘em!

A .22 cal PCP air rifle will work just fine. I use mine to kill squirrels (65 in past 15 months), possums, skunks and a raccoon.........

Brocock Sniper XR, .22 cal Mine comes with a 0DB suppressor

Available from Airguns of Arizona

It is pricey, but Ranch Wife getting desperate. I have the Squirrelenator, too. It works, but she doesn’t like dealing with the live squirrels. This new trap there’s no live squirrels.

We called them grey or cat squirrels. About 1/2 the size
of a red squirrel.

These are not tree rats. These are ground squirrels. Potguts. Small prairie dogs. Burrowers.

They are controllable, if the government is not in charge of the situation.

Weapons of choice are suppressed small caliber rifles with scopes, .17 or 22 Mag. Shoot the first two or three and wait for their buddies to come out to snack on their dead bodies. By days end it looks like the day after Gettysburg.

Check out trained mink and dogs wiping out infestation of 1400 rats on a large farm. Unreal.

The minks go into the rat holes and... kill them tossing them out to the dogs. Never seen such a thing.

Prior poster suggesting dry ice (CO2) would be more humane and kill most under ground suitable for quick burial and no mess for local pets to get into.
