I used to have poker machines here in NC. They were set to pay out 85%. This meant that most lost but the occasional person would hit big. That person would ALWAYS put back every penny in winnings continuing to play. It might take a couple of weeks but it would happen. You can program the machines to pay out but you cannot program the gambler to quit ahead.

Actually that's what we do is money management. My wife used to hate it when I said we had to leave while ahead. Once I even lifted her up and carried her out of the casino against her protests but now she sees that quitting while ahead is the best policy.

My method is to use frequent cashouts. When we are ahead by about double what was initially put into the machine I cash out the voucher and then put the original amount back in. If it continues paying out then wash, rinse, repeat. If not, then we leave the machine and go to another and start over. Basically I put $20 into each machine from a $100 budget. When it hits $60, it is cashout time. $40 for us and $20 back into the machine. Worst that can happen is that the entire $100 is lost but that hasn't happened yet.

Yesterday should have had a lot of cashouts due to my wife hitting the free games and free spins but as you saw the cashouts were incredibly low so it threw my system out of whack and we netted about a $40 loss. And YET we had a lot of fun for the nearly 4 hours at the Casino. Yes, my goal is to WIN but ALSO to extend our casino stay as long as possible on our budget. In June we had an almost $500 net win and it also lasted about 4 hours. Hardest part came when it came time to LEAVE while way ahead. However, even my wife now sees the wisdom in that.
