She was definitely doing what Trump wanted her to do. She’s just getting the most criticism because it goes against everything she previously had said about the Epstein matter. But closing the case and saying there’s nothing there was Trump’s decision. And all 3 of them, Bondi, Patel, and Bongino all went along with it. Apparently Trump decided to protect the intelligence agencies involved and came up with this ridiculous story that Epstein didn’t kill himself and there’s nothing more to investigate. Well nobody believes that. The buck stops with Trump not Bondi who was merely following his wishes.

She strongly emphasized that the Epstein matter was where she was going to prove she was the administration leader in accountability and disclosure.
She pounded on the issue relentlessly on Fox news.
It is not just what she said. It was the way she said it.
Bondi made Epstein one of the centerpieces of her public relations campaign.
She promised (in person at the White House) a large group of right wing influencers that she would be giving them lots of information about what was in the Epstein files on an ongoing basis.
This is not just a case of making a few incorrect statements.
She created the monster that will consume her—all by herself.
