Marking the 25th anniversary of a movie that captures the spirit and essence of Independence Day. Mel Gibson plays a pacifist that learns the meaning of getting involved the hard way. Happy 4th, All!

Great movie. It’s on my list of movies to watch periodically. If I didn’t have family visiting, I would be tempted to watch it tonight. Probably will on Sunday, though, when things quiet down around here.

John Ford’s DRUMS ALONG THE MOHAWK (1939) is on TCM tonight at 10:30 PM. This is THE great Hollywood Revolutionary War movie. Highly recommended.

Must’ve seen it 25 years ago with my kid. Sat near the back. In a row behind me were maybe five chatty teenagers. Turned around and announced, “Ain’t no way you’re talking through this whole movie.” They left.
